Alternating Deadlift Grips?

I just read in the Deadlifting Diagnosis article on this site that one should alternate the pronated and suppinated sides from set to set. I’ve only been lifting a few months, and this never occured to me, but I havent had any problems yet. Will this affect symmetry or growth in a negative way?

edit: I have always had a mixed grip, with my right hand under.

Yes, alternate your grip, otherwise your traps may develop differently.

I actually suggest using a double overhand grip until the weight is too much for that grip, then if your grip strength is the same on both sides, alternating hands on the mixed grip each set…if your grip strength is not equal, use the weaker grip for as many sets as possible until your grip starts to give out, then switch to your strongest grip for your heaviest sets.
