Alisa's Training Log

Had dinner with a guy, mentioned that I like to lift too, discovered that he can squat 405.

Shit that’s embarrassing.

Note to self – never brag.

Geez, Alisa, nice everything. Whatsa’ high pull?

Bet he was impressed with you. He would’ve prolly felt bad if you lifted more than he can! I would’ve been distracted all through dinner thinking about his 405 and wondering what that meant his ass looked like. Geez I need a date. (Yes, that was sort of a euphemism.)

High pull: sort of “intro to” powercleans. You just jump with the bar in your hands and let your arms float up to about shoulder height. I’m going back to basics here; my “powercleans” involved a lot of hideous arm heaving and I want to get 'em pretty.

And seriously, I was more chastened & ashamed than turned on. The boy in question is angelic and gifted and probably doesn’t have anything remotely resembling a dirty mind.

Move on.

Especially if talking to him about your lifting left you feeling shameful. You should still brag  He sounds like a dud!

Well, I’ll wait and see.

Food: 1443 kcal, p/f/c 168.6/48.7/71.6
gonna run today (I’m exhausted though! Been feeling so drained lately.)

2x 800 meters: 3:10, 3:30
2x400 meters: 1:30, 1:40
10 all-out 15-second sprints.

abbreviated workout. Was pressed for time.

squats: 10@45, 10@65, 10@85, 5@95, 5@115, 5@135, 5@145, 4@155, 1@165
–I have GOT to get more reps next time.

press: 10@45, 10@55, 5@65, 5@70, 3@75

front raises: 10@12.5, 3x10@15

bradford press: 10/5/5@50

neutral grip pullups: 6/2 (first time I got 6 at a time!)
wide grip band pullups: 5/8/7 (first time doing these!)

Nice pullups, Alisa. I doubt I could do that many WG pullups even with a band assist.

That’s a lot of squattage. Is there one level you could cut w/out compromising your progression?

that’s a thought; I might have done so much at the lower weights that I had less left for the top.

tomorrow I want to try the Texas Push-up Challenge, and probably have another gym day since today was dinky.

If you are going for more reps at your top weight, instead of doing…
squats: 10@45, 10@65, 10@85, 5@95, 5@115, 5@135, 5@145, 4@155, 1@165

try…

do a couple of easy warm-ups with the bar, a couple of feel or groove sets of 5 reps at about 50% of your max…then 5@95, 5@115, 3@135, 3@155, 3@165, then drop weight 20% and go for max reps or drop weight 10% and do 5x5

Thanks! Will do.

1 min on the Texas Pushup Challenge.

Full disclosure: no gym.
Thanks to waiting too late for dinner, had to eat a calzone cause there was nothing else. Thanks to my roommate’s baking skills, cookies.
A sad day for fitness.

Could be worse your dining hall could serve nothing but pasta on friday nights! Keep up the killer work!

Why thank you Mr. Beer!

Excellent pullups! And WG, no less. You rock!

Damn you and the Texas Push-up challenge. I had miserable timing and I won’t lie, the last pushups were UGLY!

You deserve a respite from working out - and cookies make everything better.

Good job girl!

Hey you deserve all the compliments! It’s not often I see good looking girls in the gym doing anything other than cardio, so when I see numbers like those it blows me away!

Crushed my time of 1:30. Nice.
