Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
cleans: 1x5@45, 1x5@65, 1x5@85, 5/3/2 @90 (PR!) 1x5@85
standing press (harder than seated) 1x5@45, 1x5@65, 2x5@70
squats 1x5@45, 1x5@95, 1x5@115, 1x5@135

Middle-aged guy told me I was using too much weight on the presses; probably true, since my form was a mess, but REALLY got me down (pwn’d by a man my father’s age.) I have to get more mentally resilient. My squats were a travesty after that.[/quote]

When it doesn’t go over your head all the way - that’s when it’s too much weight.

Oh, it went over my head, but I had to arch my back something awful, and it was coming up crooked (right arm stronger than left.)

Who cares if you arch your back? Over head press used to be ‘the’ big lift until it was replaced by bench press. Take a look at some of the big guys do it. They lean back so far it’s like a standing bench press.

Next time middle aged guy has the temerity to talk to you, tell him to go fuck himself and then carve a smiley face into his chest with the j-hooks. I still have the nuts of the last overweight, soft as fuck douche bag that tried to give me squat advice at my gym in my bag.

Smiley face

My presses have the same problem but reversed. Right arm/shoulder is weaker. But if I lock it out it counts!

Just tell middle aged guy to stop wearing shorts over his pants.
Nice pressing, and your deads are looking good!!

and OB_s is such a doll,

I so heart her

Evil Smiley face, for (future use) >:>

HIIT: 6 sprints, 150 meters

Blissful butthurt day.
Deadlift: 1x5@135, 1x5@175, 1x5@205, 1x5@225, 1x3@235
Bench: 1x5@45, 1x5@85, 3x5@95
Squat: 1x5@45, 1x5@95, 1x5@115, 3x5@135, 3x5@145
40 hanging leg raises
chest-supported rows: 1x5@102, 3x5@112

I love butthurt days. Are you planning on doing a powerlifting meet in the future? BTW, I like your new avatar

I was hoping someone would know what it was!

No, no plans as of yet. Probably not good enough; don’t know where; got no car; don’t know a soul in real life who competes.
But I do want to, before I turn 23 (when the “Junior” class ends and the qualifying requirements shoot way up.) At some point between now and then I’d have to learn how the system works and possibly find some actual powerlifters to train with. (I don’t even know if my school has a team.)

Start asking around at your gym. Find the big guys and veteran gym "Yoda"s, ask them. Call/explore other gyms in your area. They’ve gotta be hiding somewhere!

You know it’s likely he was attempting to hit on you - Look at me, I’m smart and can help you. If you think you’re asymmetric, maybe try dumbbells?

Dumbbells sound good.
I don’t know why everybody jumps to the “hitting on me” conclusion. He did not look like the ‘hit on girls’ type – he looked like a dad.

As incredible as it is, at that age they’re still men. You’ve been in SAMA, how old do you think those guys are? You see people with bad form all the time, do you ever say anything to them? Do you occasionally see a hot one and think, hmm that maybe a great way so start talking to them. There you go.

I thought I felt asymmetric, I did a ‘test’ to see if I was, I’ll dig it out of my log for you. It turns out I wasn’t, but knowing helped a lot.

I second this. Remember, they are more comfortable in their own skins than younger guys are, and they’ve learned it never hurts to try. There is always hope, afterall. Can’t blame em, you ARE fabulous!

well darn, if he was trying to hit on her, might as well give her a compliment!

Good work lately Alisa!

As a middle aged(41) man I can assure you it could very well have been an attempt to hit on you. Believe it or not middle aged men get hit on the gym too.

Of course he could have also just been trying to help.

Well, my daddy always did tell me “All men are pigs.”

8 miles and abs. Vetch and milkweed in bloom in the state park – gorgeous.

Nice work…
8miles what kind of time?

and yes old dood could be trying to bust a move,
see if is so free with the advice to the brotards.

I didn’t time it – easy pace, I think 9-10 minute mile.
