Bodybuilding is about size/conditioning AND SYMMETRY AND PROPORTION.

You can not get a high rating if you are missing two of the three. Open your mind.

I agree he is carrying a few extra pounds of fat and he didn’t include a leg shot but a 5 is supposed to be an average physique and his is obviously above average. He is at least a 6. Who cares if it took him 9 years and gear to get there. This guy would easily stand out in a crowd and that’s why I think he deserves higher than a 4.

There is a leg shot and a back shot. Niether prove that his proportions are adequate for a high rating in my opinion. You are entitled to yours, but I have higher standards. I value an X frame over everything else. Being a small guy myself I just don’t get all giddy about absolutely massive people that have clear weakpoints.

LOL at standing out in a crowd. By far the most subjective criteria I’ve ever heard.

Everybody has weakpoints and everyone is entitle to their own opinion. I dont realy care about my rating im not here to boost my ego. Im here to improve myself and i dont mind the negative feedback.

I take it as advice for improvement and motivation. I will try to scan a pic of me from 9 years ago, when i started. But thanks for your feedback I will work harder on my lower body

That’s a good attitude and will take you far. I hope my opinion hasn’t come off in a demeaning tone, it was just honest. You are correct that everyone has weakpoints. I think it is important that they are identified if one is to make the most progress possible. Things like ‘wow you’re huge’ may sound nice but they are not going to help at all.

A 7??? Are you kidding me? So on a scale of 1 to 10 where does the professional bodybuilder compare to this guy? Would he get a 4 on your scale. WTF?!?

Why would I give a pro bodybuilder get a 4 when I gave this guy a 7? I reserve the 9 and 10 for the “pros” if you really have to know. Basically the skinny newbs get 1s and 2s, the average looking guys who lift get a 5 and a guy who could compete gets a 9 or 10.

This guy cannot compete as he is but he has much more mass than an average gym rat which would make me want to rate him between 6 and 8. So no, I’m not kidding you.

The 4 was a typing mistake and my updated post appeared and then disappeared (pretty annoying that I have to retype this). I meant giving a pro a 14 if your giving this guy a 7 on a 10 point scale.

Skinny newbs shouldn’t be even rated on this forum; this isn’t Men’s Health. Average built guys should not be even getting 5s on the RMP for the most part, they should be getting 3s and 4s.

How can you seriously look at this guy and give him a 7 and give a pro bodybuilder a 9 or a 10. He isn’t even freakin close to a pro bodybuilder. He has no legs and he’s carrying a lot of fat. At best he should get a 5. I gave him a 4.

I think this link says it all about how to rate people on RMP: http://www.T-Nation.com/free_online_forum/pictures_pics_photo_body_rate_image_performance/rating_rate_my_physique

EDIT:
I gave the OP a 5
Does anyone actually care about the ratings though? [/quote]

Well I wouldn’t call him absolutely massive, but he does weigh 230. Anyways I guess we both have our opinions.

This comes dirrectly from the link you posted:
1 = Troll, or acting like a cunt or not posting a full set of pics.
2 = Why did you bother?
3 = You messed up somewhere.
3.5-4.5 = You messed up, but we’ll help!
5 = Average, here’s some advice.
6 = Some muscle, good job, here’s some limited advice.
7 = Good muscle, well defined, you know what to do next.
8 = Needs some tweaking for contest shape, but impressive!
8.5-9 = Contest worthy, and damn good job!
9+ = You should be pro!! We bow before your physique (no homo).

A 5 means “average, heres some advice”

I guess I should have rated him a 6 then. “some muscle, god job, here’s some limited advice”

My point is that this guy should not get a rating below 5 even if his legs are undeveloped. He friggin weighs 230. He benches 385 and squats 405. He is above average.

I’m almost certain the OP isn’t losing any sleep over his rating. He knows what he needs to do next and he just wanted to mark a milestone.

You guys are good entertainment lol. But the bottom line is that it doesn?t matter what rating you end up with. I posted my pics on here for people to give me advice on ways to improve. It?s good when people give you negative feedback, this way you can change the way you train and improve on your lagging muscle. I?m a long way from a pro bodybuilder, but that?s not my goal. I just need to train harder, fix my diet and decrease bf. Then ill go from there.

Pic when i started training 9 years ago. I was flexing in this pic lol

9 years ago at 235 pounds

4 years of training 196 pound 15% bf

This IS the forum where you get rated. If you wanted feedback on your physique, post on the performance photos thread. Otherwise, you will get rated here honestly.

Judging from your first picture your shoulders (skeletal structure, not muscles) are wide as fuck. Especially if that’s a 40 i nch waist. It looks weird, but in a good way. If you just build bigger lats you’ll have a great V-taper.

i love how you even scratch out the back of your head lol
