So I’ve tried suggestions so I’m ready to give some feedback.
Brands:
I tried Friendship 1% and I definitely think it tastes much better than the breakstone. But I still can’t say I like the taste. Still needs help.
Whey Mix:
I mixed 4 oz of Cheese with a 1/3 scoop of ON chocolate whey and once oz of skim milk in the blender. It pretty much splattered all over the inside of the blender. I had to scoop it out with a spoon and it was more tedious than I liked. I didn’t really like the taste. I definitely used to much whey.
Sugar free Jam Mix:
Mixed 4 oz of of Cheese with 1 oz of Polaner sugar free strawberry jam. This was the champ of the group. The mix actually tasted good! Almost as good as yogurt. I can definitely put back a cup of cottage cheese before using this mix. And best of all, its quick and easy.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I’ll probably try the others especially the scrambled egg suggestion. I love fluffy eggs.
While I like the taste and, just as importantly, the texture of plain cottage cheese, this is what I have been eating as my pre bed meal for the past several months and have found it be delicious.
Measurements are approximate:
1 cup cottage cheese
1 scoop chocolate MD (or equivalent)
1 tablespoon Peanut butter or Almond Butter
I think it’s nifty with pineapple - my fave. Maybe just natural pinapple juice for you - to reduce the sugar? Peaches are yum, as well. Didn’t like blueberries. Blackberries were nice - fresh off the vine. I think I need the “sour” effect with my cottage cheese.

I’ve been eating it almost every night now. The last thing I tried was mixing at 6 oz cup of Danon blended nonfat yogurt with 8oz of Friendship 1% cottage cheese. Tastes good and close to 40G of protein.
You can strain cottage cheese, take out some of the whey and it makes it a soft cheese, almost spreadable consistency.
Use a drinking glass, put in a coffee filter that is held up by attaching it at the rim with a rubberband, or you can put it all in a colander with the coffee filter.
Leave it for at least 12 hours.
Once strained I like adding basil and sundried tomatoes.
