Really sucky lift.
Can’t get T-levels right, no where near high enough.
hspl pullover knew something was wrong first try at 360… felt like 450.

KSNAP: Maybe that’s why they’re smooth…
I’ll try to explain what I mean. it’s like your hips move in proper proportion and arc during the whole lift… Where as I seem to not bring my hips in at the start the lift. I hit a sticky point, the bars mostly up calf to a bit above knee, then my hips move toward bar in abruptly…
p.s.
Showed my SO your vid dead lifting. She really liked it.
Hey Hel302:
I’s good, real good. He does great. He’s on this site as void. He mostly does what I do, except he like benching with bb instead of machines. I run my program and he’s welcome if wants or can go his own way. He teases me about my pattern, but I just tell him it’s adapted for a fat old man… He busts on me about how close his weights are to mine… Significantly higher if you go as % body weight. He’s safe and considerate so it’s all good. We set in pretty quickly, so not much delay between sets.
Daughter wants to go to, I’d love that, but she’d have to pass for 3 years older then she is… ugh…
I made up my own abbreviations:
hspl (hammer strength plate loaded)
hsps (hammer smith pin select)
Hey guys,
I’ll try and remember to get my son to video dead’s Thursday night. Though attention has altered form, and sticky point has changed…
Snap:
I do information systems. our best geeks, never satisfied with their skill level, and that seems to be one major cause of them being good and getting better. Those who think their the cats meow, usually aren’t.
I think I’ll pick a few of the guys here and closely watch their form and see if I can learn from my betters.
Thank you, your vid and the resulting comments improved my form, and cut my soreness…

225x3 to 545 is a hell of a jump. I hope you took some warmups in-between. Damn good effort on the 545. Looks like you just couldn’t bring the hips through. You’ll have it soon, I’m sure.

Thanks Tony, and Captain_K,
Your wise direction will be heeded from now on. I usually warm with 315, but 225 was on the bar (it’s my 14yr old’s working set) and figured I’d save some energy.
My next adventure is where you’ve both excelled. I will cut BF, a lot. I’m probably as strong now as I’m going to get for quite a while, hence the pr attempt.
I watched Ksnaps vid and noticed how smooth she was. It was like she was pulling in unison across legs, hips and trunk in varying proportions throughout the lift and it just looked right. I figured out I need to really work on getting my parts to lift together…
My 2 cents, you aren’t snapping your hips in, at any point really. You probably could get it with some form work. also, what kind of shoes are you wearing? Something flat soled (Chucks, wrestling shoes, Sambas, skateboarding shoes). ‘Running’ shoes take a ton of weight off your pull.

Honored by the replies.
Chucks, tied loosely enough to slip on and off.
I’m trying to improve form. Reviewing peoples vids and reading people’s help then watching the vids again.
It is WAY better then it was before snap’s vid. I realize now I was pulling up with back FAR too much and moving in almost discrete stages.
I really appreciate the kudos on my DL but I would strongly advise you against using me as a form guide. I shoot my hips up, which is a no-no. But I tend to be hyper-critical of myself to the point of obsession.
I thought your successful attempt looked pretty good. I agree with Pete about snapping your hips in, though. Your failure lift was pretty herky-jerky with a bunch of hitching going on. But it was also a HUGE amount of weight, and that kind of stuff is to be expected when you’re closing in on max.
Keep it up with the vids. I’ve found that they are a great training tool, both for self-review and to get feedback from others.
