Im still learning the ropes.LoL, Im still trying to master the fine art of timing my warm ups during the meet plus keeping my emotions in check. But yeah if you want to do October ill still compete.
Ok because last time I talked about it you said you were not going to compete if I did and well that would suck

I think now, that I could help you during the same meet and not have a negative impact on myself.
sounds good I am hoping that you wont have to distract yourself too much after the one we get to watch… either way its all for fun in the end

Good looking squats. I haven’t used a belt, do they really help?

Yes. You need a proper PL belt. Check Inzer or EliteFTS. I’d recommend a single prong 10mm. They support your core and give you something to push against.
Bulldog, how many meets have you done? Let me know if you can get your emotions under control. I’m heading into my 10th and I’m getting better at it but I must admit that the stress and fear are part of the drug that keeps bringing me back. It’s the combination of fear of failure and elation at success. Sort of like a sweet and salty combination ![]()

This will make number 7 since ive been back at it. My biggest problem is I tend to place to much pressure on myself.I tend to have two speeds Half-ass or freaking balls to the wall. With very little middle ground.I view meets as the ultimate put up or shut up type of thing.Nights before a meet are hell for me .I get to jacked up and im lucky to get a hand full of sleep. I tend not to calm down till about my second bench attempt.I swear before that point youll never see a person going to the bathroom as much as I do to go pee.So pretty much during the squats im so wired I end up choking on squats and not hitting the numbers I should.By the time deads come around im pretty fried. But now it seems the “Mutt” wants to go ahead and do this meet.Which will be his first meet.Which might help me focus less on myself.Which I hope will help be to stay calm.By putting some focus on helping him out during the meet.

Alright we are under a heat advisory in my neck of the woods. The heat index is well past 101*
At work we had two newbies drop from the heat .Good times
Plus we ended up not having practice with are youth football program tonight, due to the heat.If this heat doesnt drop soon Ill be going to the local “Y” more often.

^^ Yep to all. I’ve only done four meets, but I find that I’m a wired mess at each one. I do find that wiredness to be very addictive, though, and I experience a tremendous emotional down a few days after a meet.
You are quite strong, Bulldog! Regarding the walkouts, I start these at the end of my squat sessions when I’m about a month out from a meet. Sometimes the bar is banded from the top and I walk it out and squat it. The bands help with the pop out of the bottom. But I’m holding the full weight at the walkout. Really trains the CNS. So hard at first.
MP is looking strong. You’ll be hitting 300 in no time.

Well I dont too feel bad about only doing Mpresses yesterday.Guys at work where telling me that the heat index had 111 degress. Not to mention when I went to piss last night my urine was almost brown, A sure sign I might have been slightly dehydrated.Oh well Dead days are almost here Ill be heading to the local “Y”.

i guess 'snap" where in the same boat when it comes to meets.Of course that’s what I mean about the fine art of keeping emotions under control. I bet at any given meet that all that wasted energy has cost me at least a 100 lbs on my total due to crap squat form or just being wasted by the time deads come around. After a meet I dont have emotional downer most times Im pist off and wanting to head back to the gym because im not happy about the meet I just did.
Ive also thought about trying some reverse band squats. But im not going to try them yet.At least not for this meet.Ill just stick with the heavy walk outs.
