On coming out of the hole, an area on my second row of abs, on the left-hand-side, just under the rib, feels like it pops outwards.
It is only slightly painful if poked but leaves a deep dull ache in this spot that feels very wrong. I barely feel it during the week or during chest/arm work outs. One week later, its fine during warm-up deadlifts but at about 75% 1RM, the internal-abdominal-pressure causes significant pain during set-up and a dare not try and shift the weight.
Never used a belt
Tensing the ab causes no pain
Never had a hernia so not familiar with them
No visible injury or any difference to the touch
I am a bit troubled by valsalva symptoms during squats - burst blood vessels in face/shoulders (regularly) and a nose bleed (first time last week)
So - do you know what it is, why its happened, how to rehab it, how to avoid it?
I have read the strain descriptions but it didn’t quite seem to fit. It wasn’t caused by an abrupt movement and doesn’t hurt to tense the actual muscle. It seems to be caused by and aggravated from diaphragmatic pressure.
I guess it probably is a strain just not the same type of strain you might get from football. My slight concern is whether it could actually be some type of herniation behind the muscle but I don’t even know if thats possible.

Sure - well aware of the caveat but I also know that if I take it to a UK doctor they will say don’t squat for six weeks. I considered you chaps to be a better resource of common squatting injuries.
