A Work in Progress

yes, but you have to want it bad enough to stick to something and work HARD…people complain all the time about how unhappy they are with there body, etc, but they don’t want to put in the WORK…but I dont want to eat chicken and broccoli…you mean I can’t drink soda anymore? I’m sure I will hear this a lot as I start working…
But the cool thing is that I can relate…I’ve been there and I’m still getting to where I want to be…

You have to face the harsh harsh reality, that everyone elses food is NOT YOURS…

Ok, back to me…In 6 weeks time these are my new stats:
BF%: last checked-28%–not sure! %23-25 probably
MEASUREMENTS:

Neck: 12.5- no change
shoulders-43- 41
upper chest-37.5-36.5
around chest- 42-41
under chest- 38.5-35.5
upper arm-15-13.5
small waist-33-32
navel-35-33
butt-43-41.5
upper thigh-25-24.5
mid thigh-21.5-no change
above knee-17-16
below knee-14-no change
calves-15.5-15

If I did my math right that is 15 inches, GONE…off my body, never to return again! And still shrinking weekly! The ten lbs I lost isn’t too shabby either…I’ll publicly announce my weight when I get to that magic number…I’m predicting next week!

I haven’t really ventured out of combat sports in a while, but Woo Hoo!

Well, thanks for coming out of your hole, PCH…

I’m still here…and still training.
Also WORKING! I scored my first client yesterday, yippee!

I’m kinda peeved because they took on another trainer who also works part time there at the desk and he’s been beating me to the new members…grrr.

Thinking about talking to the fitness director at the drill hall here on base to see if I would have to be hired as a PT to train people there…I would love to start up my own business of working out people in there homes or at the drill hall as well…There is a plethora of stay at home Navy wives/moms that would LOVE that!

195 FTW!

To be honest here, I started the year off at 230, just in case anyone is curious! But I’ve made the most progress in just the last few months…I would like to be a RIPPED 175 :D(I’m 5’10" BTW)
I’m set to take a two week diet break starting OCT 3rd, and then get back on the diet train to blast the last 15 or so pounds off, wahoo!!!

I scored my first client the other day too :stuck_out_tongue:

Life is GOOD!

Good for you!! (:

You must be excited about your progress. Good luck with your clients.

Hey that’s exciting stuff! You just need to get ahead of that guy stealing clients. Or be so awesome that people see your clients and want to come to you! You’ll be great

Good for you getting your first client! The first of many, I’m sure.

FTW indeed

and nice work on the client- that is really what the training business is-
the getting clients part.

Hi, and big congratulations on your 195 milestone! I have been reading through some logs on here and I really enjoy yours. Your dedication to yourself shines through! And enjoy the new client- its a nice feeling helping others.

For pullups a power workout works really good… You have to get strong to pull-up yourself… And eat alot of protein to build up the muscle… I tried density training and that really built up my pullup… It goes like this
If you want to do a total of a overall certain number of reps with a certain weight follow this (this one is for 24 total reps… Over time with a certain weight you will be able to do more consecutive reps with a desired weight (it works well with the assisted pullup station and you will get progessively stronger)
Reps Sets
2 12
3 8
4 6
5 5
6 4
8 3
9 3
12 2

Use the same weight week over week untill you can do 12 reps then increase the weight. If you do this and your diet is good over time you will get stonger… I helps too if your loosing weight while doing this and building muscle at the same time. lighter weight=>easier freeweight pullup. Keep progressing untill you can do your own bodyweight… A workout journal really helps with this. Ususally by the time you can do 8 total reps hopefully you will be able to do 12 all in one set… Good luck. Doing it this way keeps the overall total reps approximately the same 24
12

Been MIA since my internet crashed…busy week ahead as well, since the hubby is leaving(again) til Sunday…I’ve got a couple more orientations too!

Had one last night that kinda kept me awake…I thought I really had this one, especially just talking to her over the phone…I am really thorough with my orientations…we talk a bunch at first, then I get measurements, then take them through a goal specific workout…this particular one involved mostly body weight exercises, since she is 280, hasn’t worked out in awhile and has back, hip AND knee issues…

she was really excited for all the moves that I showed her, since she is basically using the gym instead of physical therapy…but alas, she said that she wanted to do it on her own for awhile :irked: I just dont get it…grrr

Oh, and I’m down to 194…I’m on a roll!! But will still take a break here in about a week to reset everything…wondering if I can make it to 190 by then!

Another cool thing I forgot to mention is that we were going through all our junk this weekend, and I came across some old Levi’s of mine…the size 10s FIT!!! Still a few inches to lose around the middle, but THEY FIT!! And my tush looked pretty cute in them as well :stuck_out_tongue:

Hooray!
You are doing amazing things.

I am, aren’t I?

Is there anything better in life than fitting into old jeans??? Nope. Can’t think of anything.

If that orientation person was using the gym instead of physical therapy, she likely wasn’t willing to pay for professional advice from the git-go. Some people are like that – penny-wise, pound-foolish. Also, the economy has really made folks wary of laying out the dough to hire professionals in all aspects of their lives. If you suspect that her decision was $$ related, do you offer half-hour sessions for reduced cost, or something similar to ease a new client into pay mode?

woo hoo!!! way to go girl!

It always comes down to the money unfortunately…

I try to make it easier by letting them pay as they go, instead of suggesting paying for a big ‘package deal,’ upfront…

gah, this shit wasnt in the stuff I studied for…

At my gym, it’s $30 for 30 min sessions, or $45 for 45min…

if you have $30 to spend on fast food a week, you can save it and pay me instead!! Maybe it’s time for some tough love, haha!

Im also looking into starting my own in-home training bizz…living on a Navy Base there is definitely a market for it! Also seeing if I can train people at the drill hall(the free gym on base)

Somethings gotta give eventually!

AWESOME!!! That is so fantastic. I also wanted to mention that I like the notion of eating at maintenance between sessions of active weight loss, since for me, the hardest part of losing weight is MAINTAINING the weight loss. You’ve mentioned resetting metabolism as a reason, but I think that learning to eat at a maintenence level between weight loss is a very good thing–then you are not all the sudden tossed into learning something new…sorry, just rambling here.

ramble away…its cool!

ah, maintainence, I’ve dreamt about it for a couple years now…that will most definitely be the hard part! can’t say I have much experience in that department…but I’ve learned things over the years and why I would gain and lose(and gain) the weight back…basically I know what NOT to do,so hopefully thats enough!

Sigh…I could have a pHD in losing and keeping off weight, with all my knowledge. In practice, it is much more difficult…sigh again. I commiserate with you, and I am sooooo proud of you!!!

I guess since everyone else is keeping up with there logs, I will too :stuck_out_tongue: Or at least try anyway…

Im feeling so drained today…hope Im not getting sick…found out there was a couple kids in my little ones daycare class that have the swine flu! that’s just great…
