A Work in Progress

Keep it up MIM

Thanks…
Been down the last few days, due to a friend losing her baby…very sad. I hope she can continue to heal from this day forward…

My weight is holding steady, even after a nice little refeed of a bagel and rice crispy treats on Sat!
I’m expecting the ‘whoosh effect,’ in the next couple days…The hardest part about this diet is recovering from my free meal, and trying to figure out how to get to maintainence calories within 5 hrs for the refeed…

After waking the morning after my free meal and refeed I felt hungover! So from now on, I will only have fruit and sweet potato or something like that…The other part that is hard on the diet, is that I don’t feel like eating…you’d think one would be extremely hungry with just protein and veggies…Sometimes I’d rather not eat anything at all then choke back more tuna or chicken…but I’ve changed that, and am using this dieting oppurtunity to experiment with different spices and herbs…

Here is my training from Saturday:
seated db press-
4x8x40s

Lat pulldown
4x8x100

Lat raise machine(cheat!)
4x8x65

One arm rows-
3x6x70<—used a bit of bodyweight for these 1x8x60<–normalish

Leg press
3x8x290

Bicep bb curl
3x8x50

cable crunch…you sit the opposite way on a lat machine with a rope attachment, and crunch til your elbows touch your knees! 3x15x50

Done…in and out in an hour flat! Not too bad for being on a diet! And then I forgot I was just supposed to be doing 4x6…oppsie!

Training is still just three times a week…this week I will be adding cardio in the form of walking…

Have you played with the Mrs. Dash spice blends? They’re pretty good on everything.

ya, I’ve got a whole cupboard full of junk I never use…the other night I had chicken that had been marinated in teriyaki stuff, cilantro and this mango rub stuff I found…

I just had tuna, shredded cabbage with wasabi…yum!

yoohoo - how you doing M-i-M

Yes, how is it going? Missing you, around here!

Yes, another vote for missing you around here!!

Aww shux…thanks for checking on me!

Just nothing exciting to report really…and I get bored of typing the same thing, and pretty much talking to myself…

As you may or may not know I tried that rapid fat loss diet.only made it a week before I realized that it wasn’t for me…I don’t care how rapidly I would have lost anything, it wasn’t worth feeling like CRAP!!

I’m keeping it simple for now,and judging by results in a couple weeks, will be shifting towards the calorie counting realm…it’s a lot of work and I don’t want to do it, but I feel it’s the only way at this point to determine where I start losing/gaining fat…I just hope my metabolism isn’t totally screwed that it thinks it needs iddy biddy calories to let go of the weight…

I’ve been at this too long, and you’d think I’d be an expert on fat loss by now…I just want it over with!!

That’s pretty much it…oh, and I switched to full body workouts 3x/week :open_mouth: But I’m probably going to switch back to an upper/lower split 3x/week…just trying to coordinate time with the oldest out of school for the summer…
I’ll figure it out!

Stay tuned… :stuck_out_tongue:

The problem with losing weight, is that it is NEVER over. Once you lose the weight, you must maintain the loss, which is truly the hard part. In 1989, I got to my goal weight. I stayed there for about three years. Then I went to grad school…I had a small child at the time, and was raising her on my own.

I was getting up early in the morning and studying through the night at least one or two days a week. That’s a whole 'nother mealtime! I was eating fat and sugar and caffeine just to stay awake. I managed to pack on those forty pounds rapidly again, and they brought friends.

My point is, getting the weight off, difficult as it is, is the easy part. At least you have the momentum and the reward and reinforcement ofthe weight slipping off. Maintaining the loss–a total, daily grind. YOu have to keep counting the calories and maintaining the exercise or the weight comes back on.

That is why those who successfully maintain the losses are the ones who have drilled it into their heads that they are not dieting, they are making a life change.

I know that you know all this–but I do get a little frustrated with those folks who lose weight easily and maintain losses easily thinking those of us with extra weight are just “lazy.” We have to work so much harder to to what comes naturally to a lot of other people. Sigh. For whatever reason, people like us have metabolisms that we have to fight constantl.

You know, if this were less civilized times, we would be the survivors! Our bodies would be able to use the paltry calories we were ingesting with utmost efficiency while those with more rapid metabolisms would waste away! So if there is some natural disater (or unnatural one…) we are more likely to live through it. Sigh again. Small consolation, hm?

I have to work and fight really hard for every pound I lose…part of the problem was too much program shopping and trying on of different diet set ups…

For now I am keeping it simple and getting my cardio in consistently, and I’m making progress again!

I need to build that self confidence in myself, and allow the work I do to just take care of things…I second guess things way too much, and that is being put to a stop!

…I really have my heart set on getting to a certain goal weight by my big 3-0 in August! So I have been working harder than ever!

Onto training then! Today:

Squats- warm up sets
2x4x135 2x4x165 2x3x180! I wish I would have brought my camera! I put a box behind me to make sure I was getting depth…not full box squats, but I when I felt my bum touch I would pop back up…AWESOME!! I have to be careful since my left knee has been giving me some trouble lately…especially yesterday when it rained! I thought it was an old wives tale, HAHA!!

Bench- 5x5x115<—first two sets felt heavy, and I was hoping I had accidentally put the 45s on, but nope!

Wide grip pullups-3x8x105 -10lbs! Starting to really LOVE these…and I really feel it right in my upper lats the next day!

Sumo RDLs-3x8x165 *was going to do another set, but was getting tired!

Lat raise machine-3x8x65
Dips-3x8x85lbs assistance

CARDIO
5 minute walking
60s jogging
90s walking
20 minute total

Hi log…how are you today? Oh, I’m doing ok!

I’m down almost 2 pounds this week…thanks to moving my butt more…I gotta tell you log, that I am pretty nerdy, and I habitually wear my pedometer everyday…and everyday I have been getting 10,000 steps or better, which comes out to about 5-6 miles a day!

I think this is one of the “keys,” to losing this fat: moving more! duh…
Plus I have been playing with IF on cardio days…

Well log, this is what I did today at the gym…it will be my last day since I am leaving for MI on Friday!
I tortured myself with a Giant Set

of:

Deadlifts-155
Leg press- 180
Shoulder press- 35s
Pull ups- 105

4x8 for everything…resting 2 minutes after going through each exercise…

Then:
Static lunge-4x8x115
One arm row- 4x8x60
BB curl- 3x8x60

Puketastic!!

Was going to skip intervals, but then I would have felt guilty…
2nd day of the couch to 5k…

walk 5 min
60s jogging
90s walking
Total of 20 min

Well, thats all for now…see ya when I get back log!!

Hi, I’m still alive!

Figure I’d update this thing when anything exciting happens…cause really, my life isn’t all that exciting…at least not to anyone else, haha…

Things have been going well…I’m down 4 lbs this month, getting closer and closer to my birthday weight goal!

I squatted 185 for 3 reps before we left on vaca! 225 is still my goal…but just maintaining muscle is my goal for right now…I’ve been dieting pretty hardcore lately, cause I’ve just been a chicken about it this whole time…probably making it more complicated then it had to be…move more+eating less= fat loss…duh! And not losing strength is a bonus!!

Good job on the 185!!

Thanks Tootles!!

EXCITING NEWS!!

It’s funny that I was just thinking about my future job situation this morning…

cause as soon as I walked into the gym and swiped my card(Jackie the director/PT lady) was standing behind the desk and asked what I had going on and if I was ready to work soon! She said there a ‘couple opportunities,’ opening up, and she thinks I would make a good addition to the team! Of course we couldnt talk much, with my son jumping around like the village idiot(sorry Coby) so I’m going to email her and find out more details!

I’m scared now, lol…
It feels like there is still so much to learn…and you know when your goals and dreams are actually happening it’s kind of overwhelming…whee! Also, I kinda wanted to lose an additional 10-15 lbs to feel more comfortable…but maybe there is still time!!
