A Work in Progress

Thanks PMPM!!! Definitely working on those two things mentioned…

Ok, so here is my 95x6 squat…working on depth and keeping the chest UP!!! grrr

I broke down and wore my knee braces for the first time today… uncomfy wal-mart specials…don’t I look sexy? haha! But I didn’t feel any knee pain/crunchiness…thinking about getting some rehband sleeves…

Note to self: running shorts/shoes=not good for squatting!!

It was an impromptu decision this morning to squat, and I felt too lazy to change…plus, I need to do laundry, :stuck_out_tongue:

My battery is charging now, since it died half through the 135lb squat…

Hey M-i-M that depth looks good! I sure you saw it - but keep the elbows forward on the way down and then think of leading with your head & chest out of the hole. Right now you allow your elbows to drift back as you descend which causes you to lose “tightness” in hole.

Thanks SOL!!

Yep, working on the elbows/chest…getting better!

I hadn’t realized before I started taping more of my squats, that I had been letting my rear end do all the work…BAD HABIT!!

Depth is improving though…just have to leave my ego at the door as I improve!

Here is my 135…not a very good angle, but just wanted to prove that I DID do them today…115x5 is next!

Thanks Chrys, and Molly!!

Rainlips- yes, I remember you! What brings you by? How have things been going for you? I don’t read on FA all that much…hope all is well![/quote]

I have been good, I am training for my first figure show in sep. Super excited about it! Sounds like you are doing great! I am will be following along.

Cool, how exciting for YOU!!

Do you have a coach and all that?

I remember you being pretty busy, as a nurse or something like that, right?

x2. Nice work!!

THANK YOU!!

So as far as depth goes, that’s looking better, right?

The other things to think about(chest up, elbows forward) will come along…I can already tell the difference by focusing on these things!!

Now I just need a plan to get me to my 200+ goal by August!

Any suggestions?

I’m doing a program off of the PN site right now, and it will bring me to the middle of June…

I can still sneak squats in on leg day’s though…and Saturdays are my “technique practice,” days with the PL’er that I need to bump into again to make that official…

Yeah, but totally epic wars that get written about FOREVER. Besides which, an old fashioned, boots on the ground, high manufacturing war may be just whats needed to boost the economy. For reference, see the Great Depression/WWII.

I don’t want to start a war at home!! lol…not sure what it’s going to take to get him in the gym…baby steps. He’s the type of guy that eats whatever, gets exercise 1x/week with work, and that’s it…He is 6’5" and about 220…when I met him 12 years ago, however, he was about 185ish? ya…

Today’s training was GOOD! Although I woke with a headache this morning and it never went away…NOT good…

  1. kneeling x-rows- 2x15x 25
    2a) bent bb row- 2x10/5…85,95,95,115
2b) flat bb bench- 2x10/5…95,105…105, 115…<—all kind of PRs for REPS!!
  2. seesaw press- 3x8x35s<—FINALLY!!
    3b) Iron cross- 3x8x8s
    3c) Windmill- 3x6x25

Had some time to kill some I did some seated wiiide grip rows
4x8x100
And the Pec Deck
4x8x130
And then some concentration curls
4x8x20(started with the left side)

Old habits die hard!!

CARDIO
Upright bike-only squeezed in 15 min-level 11/hill intervals

The PT director lady that I am shadowing was FUN!!! I can so do this job! It was fun to be able to pick her brain afterwards…My only fear is making personal training a CAREER…like how do you get clients all the time, and stuff like that…
I explained that I was in no rush to get hired, and that I’m still working on MYSELF…she reminded me not to let ME hold myself back…if an oppurtunity presented itself, would I just pass it up? No…
she said, think of yourself more like a Coach…like gymnastics coaches for example…like Bela Karoli to be more specific…AWESOME Coach, but do you think he gets out there and does all the flips and what not? I don’t think so!
So I will continue to tag along with her for a couple more sessions, and then she wants me to cycle through the other trainers to get a feel for everyones style…

So, lot’s of stuff to think about!!

I was serious about wanting a plan for a 200lb+ squat…

suggestions, tips, advice are welcomed!

Training kicked BUTT today!! In a good way…

1/snatches I skipped and did clean and presses instead
4x6x50s

2- sumo dl- 2x10/5…135, 155…155,185 And then since I skipped my chance to pull a single last week I did 3 singles @ 205 Felt I was getting tired and my form probably sucked…had my eyes closed too, LOL!!!

Took a vid of the 155 to see how it’s looking…

too dramatic with f’ing the bar?

see, where all the chalk on the floor is? That’s where super cool PL guy was!!
And see the dude behind me there helping the other dude squat? That’s Victor, my bb trainer buddy…That other dude went to get a towel or something…and I told VIC that the other dudes form was weird…he like tucks his butt in on the way down…

3- reverse bb lunge- 2x12x70, whew!
4a- reverse hypers
4b- bridge- 3xAMRAP- 12, 11,10
4c- bb rollout- 3xAMRAP- 8,8,8

Ok, I might have snuck in a few sets of squats too…I’m addicted now Went for 135x3 again, and this time I forced my elbows to stay down, so that they would touch the top of my quads and force them FORWARD on my way up…I think it’s really coming along!! Felt solid.

So ya,Super cool PL guy was there deadlifting…I guess Friday’s are his day off from work! Sure good for the motivation though…this guy is crazy strong, and crazy big too…His back is wiiide! Tall, Bald head, goa-ty, the whole works…
He was talking with someone or doing stuff, so there wasn’t a good time to approach him…but I think I overheard him say he’d be there tomorrow morning…ya, I’m a stalker.
He did see me deadlifting, and gave me a “thumbs up,” kind of grin and said my form was good, and he was happy to see a me deadlifting, cause not many females do…I was just happy to be occupying his space!

Also, I got my first “stranger comment.” I might have snuck some Kroc rows in with my pal that was there. Don’t hate…:stuck_out_tongue:

Dude: are you training for something, or just having fun?
ME: Did you say PRAYING for something? ya, I’m praying to lift HEAVIER!
BOTH: hahahahaha
ME: No,but seriously, I’m here for the hell of it…it’s what I love.
DUDE: That’s cool. You lift some pretty heavy s*&t! So you come here everyday?
ME: About 4-5 days a week…
DUDE: well keep it up then…and don’t forget to smile. You look angry if your not smiling!
ME: I KNOW!! I get told that all the time.

And then I went to tell him I hope to start working there soon…not sure if he was hitting on me or what…I’ve seen him with his wife, but she stopped coming…

haha I get told I look angry if I don’t smile too. But I hate being told to smile! You don’t see me walking up to guys going “Smile. You’re so much prettier when you smile.” eck

Which goal is more important to you, increasing your lifts or losing fat?

They are both equally important at the moment…grin

My lifts HAVE been increasing, while the fat is decreasing…I don’t think it will be an issue!

I’ve been upping my cals, and feeling better than ever…

Yes I am really busy! Close I am a pca, I do all the bitch work in the E.R.! I am working with Olesya! She totally rocks! How have you been?

I just read through your last couple workouts, Wow chicka! Your weight amount rocks! My numbers look sissy next to yours! Great Job!
Keep plugging along and you get to 200+ in no time!!!

Your workouts look impressive!
I too want a 200lb squat – I’m not sure how attainable that is, though, given that I’m at 145 now. Maybe by mid-September when the next school year starts. But yeah, I want to do what you’re doing!

Thanks Rain and Alisa-
Feedback is nice…
sometimes I get the urge to just let the log go. I understand I am not a “powerful,” woman in the sense that I am not an actual PL’er…but I think power can also come from working hard and getting results!

Today’s Training: I’m in STAGE 2 of the program I’m doing…In case anyone cares…ppft

  1. side lying external rotation-3x12x10s
    2a- incline db bench-2x8/6/4… 25,35,40…35,45,50
    2b- bb row- 2x8/6/4…85,95,106…95,105,115
    3a-bb floor press-3x8x105
    3b- t-bar row- 3x8x80
3c- pronated bb row to clavicle?? 3x8x95

The set up for the floor press was ok…the bar was set as low as I could get it…but my triceps were just 1/2 inch off the floor…best I could do, unless I set the bar on some risers next time…I think it made it a bit more difficult since I didn’t get that “pop,” from the floor…

Funny story about the t-rows as well…there was a guy doing them getting ready to remove the 35 plate, and I told him to leave it

The “womens,” room was teeming with lots of ladies that I could see potential in…I’m starting to notice things more, like, “what would I do if I was there trainer.” One girl was doing walking lunges(good intentions) but was barely going all the way down…stuff like that.

CARDIO
Stair stepper INVERTALS(OMG, wth was I thinking??!)

Starting off fresh at 12 intervals…30/90
Level 1/Level 15…actually lost count, so I just continued til I cried for my mommy…about 20 minutes…

4 fish oil

12pm1/2 recovery drink
(30C 18P)

1pmTurkey meatballs
