Hi, Betty! Not that I have any room to talk because I am only box squatting for now but…The first two videos look pretty good, not quite deep enough, but definitely getting there. As for your 175 video, I saw basically the same thing sbmart saw…your upper body seemed to get forward to the point that you basically had to “good morning” the weight at the top. So, again, try to focus on keeping your chest up. Great progress, keep it up!
Thank YOU!!
I’ve been reading lots of talk about elbows as well…force the elbows forward and the chest will follow suit basically, by driving up…I’ve gotten into this weird habit of letting my butt lead me out of the hole…
According to this program I am doing, there is no more back squats until the third stage…but I am still going to throw in some light work for practice…
And if awesome PL’er guy shows up on SAT, then maybe I can get some additional help there as well!
Sometimes I wish, I would have started a loooong time ago…It’s been almost a year and I’m just now getting to the point where I kind of have an idea of what I’m doing…just putting all the technical steps together now…before, I didn’t really care all that much!
I’d love to squat at least 200(with kick ass form and all) by my 30th b-day in AUG! I’ll aim for more, but I’d be happy with 200! ![]()
Nice work!!
Like you I am finding I need to work a littl ebit on form… when the weighst get heavy -
is where you can see it the most-
(for me)
Practice sitting back, try to get the bar a little lower and like people are saying chet up elbows back…
really nice work
kmc
Ask and ye shall recieve!!
Thanks for those that have responded! ![]()
Lots of practicing is in my future! But I’m ok with that…it sucks when you train alone sometimes…
Hopefully things will be turning around for me soon, and Saturday’s will become practicing days with this PL’er guy I bumped into…(we literally bumped barbells setting up for DL’s last week, haha!)
I wish I knew what fed he lifted for, but supposedly he holds some records and stuff for the state!
Everyone gave great advice, so I don’t have much to add… but I think that setting a goal of squatting 200 by August is an awesome idea! =D
Hopefully PL-ing dude will show up! haha

My 30th is in August, too! My main goal is to get that one stinkin’ pull up, but I’d love to squat 200, as well!
Sweet! Virgo’s UNITE…![]()
Mine is the 24th…
My hubby’s is tomorrow actually…we are taking off to go to Kings Dominion, so no power or oly lifting practice tomorrow ![]()
Haven’t been to the gym since Tuesday since my littlest one has been sick, and the hubby has been working wonky hours…but I should be back in there today!
I am also happy to report than I am down a LB since last week!
This is great news!! I have been at the 16-1800 cal range for a few weeks…so I may stay for a couple more and make sure the intensity is up to par along with cardio before I go upping again…
Training: ahh, back in the gym, my second home
- kneeling x-rows- 3x10x12.5
2a) bent over row- 2x6-3-1—> 95,115,125…105,115,135
2b) flat bb bench- 2x6-3-1—> 95,115,125…105,125,130
was too chicken to put the 45s on, and too shy to ask anyone for a spot…my buddy VIC wasn’t there this morning. It’s the most I ever put up on my own though, so I guess it’s sorta a PR!
3a) see-saw press- 3x8x30
3b) Iron Cross- 3x8x8s
3c) Windmill- 3x6x30
CARDIO
upright bike-level 10 hill-20min
And uh, I don’t like this new lay out they got going on here…
Happy Mother’s Day to all!
Went to the gym this morning and totally spaced what I was supposed to be doing…haha! Still got a good workout in though…
Talked to Frank, the oly lifter…and we talked about Steve, the pl’er guy…and apparently the pl’er guy’s brother is an oly lifter too, who made the previous olympic team!! Pretty cool!!
I would love to bump into the Pl’er guy some more, but he trains mostly in the evenings…someday I would really like to have an end goal in my training, and train for a PL meet…but right now, I’m just sharpening up all the technicalities, and building up the strength…oh ya, and the fat loss…
Happy Mother’s Day to you, too! Cool to find out about the guy on the Olympic lifting team! Bummer your schedule does not work with the pl-er guy’s…
Happy Mother’s Day Betty! Hope you had fun with the kids and the hubby!
Betty,
Not sure if you remeamber me or not, you helped me over in FA about a year ago. Just wanted to say hello and I am so glad you are doing so well! Great job and the new goals!
Thanks Chrys, and Molly!!
Rainlips- yes, I remember you!
What brings you by? How have things been going for you? I don’t read on FA all that much…hope all is well!
raining=brutal
Everything felt HEAVY…maybe it was cause of the increased reps…

Then I saw my friend AND her hubby…yay!! she works with my hubby and I was complaining that I wish my hubb would work out with me…
Did some extra stuff

supersetted with
Tricep press downs 4x10x42.5
CARDIO
Upright bike, 20min, level 10, hill interval mode…
So ya…my hubby is the type that always says he wants to work out, etc…but being the silly man he is, he does nothing…he has PT(physical training) once a week with his division, but that’s the extent of exercise…he stays in decent shape, and eats whatever he wants mostly, grrr… But I know he wants better for himself, and so do I! We aren’t getting any younger…
SOooo, I’m trying to use my friends hubby as an example, and bribe him a bit…shoot, I’d even pay for his membership!
Bribe him with sex. JK. But on a serious note I hear it works.
Haha! I’ll spare the details, but I think that plan may work! ![]()
Training=GOOD!
-
OH barbell lunge-2x15xjust the bar
-
Squat-2x10/5…95,115,105,135
*really focused on keeping the upper half TIGHT, and forcing the elbows forward on the way up…as well as my chest…I also picked a spot on the wall and looked UP…I was happy! And I know I got loooow…should have taken a vid…next time!! -
Front Squat- 2x15xbar-ATG
-
single leg-leg press 3xAMRAP-28,21,22
skipped “dragon flags.”
- Hip adductor-3x12x175
CARDIO
Upright bike-level 11-hill interval mode-20min
I plan on going on a small bike ride later, and do some stretching!! I don’t do enough of that, because once I’m done, I just want to leave…
I’ll make up for abs tomorrow while I’m at the gym…I’m excited for my first OJT(military slang for on the job training) experience!!
Starting tomorrow I will be shadowing a woman with her clients, and rotate through all the PT’s there…and hopefully in 5-6 months time there will be an opening so I can start WORKING!! ![]()

This method has been known throughout history to start wars.
Make love, not war! ![]()
The client the PT that I was supposed to meet with cancelled on her…booo…It happens! But tomorrow at noon, for SURE! Which works out, because I’ll be just finishing up my training, and I can utilize one of the recovery drinks they sell at they gym…
Got in some squat practice…I think it’s coming along!
1x10xbar
1x5x65
1x5x85
1x5x95
1x3x115
1x3x135
1x6x95
*trying to figure out where my form breaks down…definitely coming out of the hole…my butt wants to take over and my chest wants to fall…stupid butt! LOL!!
Also did some leg extensions(because I need bigger quads, haha!) and tried a new protocol of feeling the BURN! you go heavy and leave a couple in the hole, then drop down the weight and go until you can’t ![]()
4x8x120, 8reps @90lbs
6reps…
5…
5…
Plate Twists- 3x12x25lb plate
supersetted with
V-ups- 3x12
Then I got some cardio in…
25min Hill interval-level 10- Treadmill
I’ll post the vids when they come up! I’d love some more critique-age ![]()
With your squats, push your elbows forward and push your knees out. That might help with the good-morning-ing.
