Brussel sprouts…hmmmm I wonder what they would taste like with EVO and garlic salt on the grill. I do that with asparagus and now you have me wondering!
grr, that weird page thing is happening again…
Today’s meals
I caved and had hardboiled eggs for breakfast…BIG mistake!
830am 4 eggs
apple
1 tbsp pb
1030am 1/4 sunflower seeds
1/4 cup prunes
trained
1pm 1 cup brown rice
2 cups brussel sprouts
1 cup chick peas
Mixed with lemon juice!
6pm!(oops, too long here)*** still waiting for the food to get here, and I’m not even that hungry***
Indian eggplant dish w/peas
veggie fritters cooked with chick pea batter!
So something I’m learning through being a ‘vegetarian,’ is that I wasn’t getting in nearly enough veggies before! But it’s hard, because you want there to be a balance and have ROOM for everything…lately I haven’t been hungry, and when I am, I stop when I’m full…
Try it Jenny! sounds yummy…
I think fixing them outdoors is the only way the hubby is going to let that happen anymore, LOL! At least they dont taste as bad as they smell… ![]()
Hey, thanks KMC!! I can see only having chicken/fish on occasion, or when I have a meal with my family…I’m really enjoying eating this way, but it’s been a challenge getting in all my protein!
I already eliminated dairy before this, and I don’t eat Soy due to thyroid issues(plus, soy is so up in the air anyway!)
Hi
we (wife and I)grill or roast most veggies with sea salt
real garlic or shallots and brussels taste awesome like that.
Being veggie is hard, to juggle the protein.
I try to stay away from soy too
do it for your week and see how you feel.
I felt better after adding fish and eggs back in. It does take more time food prep shopping etc.
I always feel lighter or have more energy when I eat predonminantly veggies others feel differently.
find what works for you.
kmc
Thanks Kmc!
I am feeling GREAT!! Accept those eggs I had yesterday are really playing a number on my tummy right now, argh!
And the thought of eating more beans, makes me want to cry…I’ll get over it though…
Its kind of fun that I’ve thrown myself into this without question…
I went on a no red meat stint for over 10 years after working in Wendy’s in High school…and I caved when I hooked up with my now husband…he’s a meat and potatos kind of guy after all…
It feels good to take a break for animal proteins in general…Im not even craving them at all…I just don’t want to eat anymore beans, wah…
Hey Lady,
Sounds like you are doing good. I like Brussels Sprouts, but I only count 12 for a serving. I usually cook in microwave for 6 minutes, take them out cut them in half and put just a little bit of real butter on them. The when I serve them to myself only I add a bit of olive oil and generously sprinkle with Celtic Sea slat. I will have to try the roasting on grill this summer.
It sounds good. I always want to do zucchini or yellow squash this way, but every time I would try to pick up at store they weren’t in very good shape. Sometimes I wished I had a spot for a garden, but don’t have the area and the deer like to eat the plants.
Sorry I haven’t been around much. I do read, but don’t post much these days. Been keeping an eye on Trish and Amanda also over AF. Both are doing good.
Good job on the weight loss.

Hey Karen-
Thanks for stopping by! Don’t be a stranger ![]()
So I went on an excursion to the natural food store…I got some goodies(as in vitamins and some new soups to try!) along with some of this Almond Breeze stuff everyone is raving about…
I also picked up a starter guide which goes along with the book “eat right for your type.” I am amazed at all the foods that I should be AVOIDING…(chicken! WHEAT!
I’m going to get the whole book now!
As my veggie experience comes to an end, I will add back in some fish, yum! And I really miss cottage cheese, and it turns out it is a beneficial food for me, according to the book…but NOT according to the list of foods that supress the thyroid. herm.
I’m down THREE pounds since last Saturday!! :Celebrate: Also, .5inch off my calves, and .5 inch off from under and below my bbs…
Granted, I haven’t been eating as much the last couple days, since my tummy is icky…But still!
on another note, what does it mean when your pee is really yellow, and even when you wipe?( I drink a gallon of water a day, and I’ve already dranl 34oz this morning)
I started taking a pro-biotic yesterday along with a B vitamin complex…do you think thats it?
Hey,
Most B Vitamins make your pee yellow. Bright neon yellow. It’s okay, but I have been on some B Vitamins that don’t have that much yellow in them. Really I think it is something they could leave out, but for some manufacturers, I guess they think the yellow should stay.
Good for you taking a probiotic. Digestive health is very important to our over all health. I take one by NOW called GR-8-Dophilus. I take two three times a day.
Good for you on the weight loss and the inches lost. That is so fantastic! You seem to be on the right track, so don’t change much in your diet.
Never heard about cottage cheese effecting the thyroid. That is a new one to me. I had to give it up due to latose intolernace I developed. Chalk another one up to menopause. Oh this menopause stuff does crazy things to the mind and body. Can’t get thru the 13 pounds I gained. My body just doesn’t want to give it up or possibly it is my mind not wanting to give up it’s cushion. I think I am afraid to really go after again.
Is that possible? I told you this menopause stuff does crazy things to you. Well I am eating cleaner and I am still excercising. I really kind of hope this Spring weather coming our way will have a good impact on me and my brain. Ha!
Have a good weekend!

Hey Karen-
Turns out I don’t NEED that vitamin b complex I was taking…good thing today was just day two! :O…I was told most people don’t need all the B’s if they are eating properly…at most maybe B12…
you know, I really don’t know WHAT to believe, but I’ve looked things up and I’ve read that dairy can suppress the thyroid(not just cottage cheese) Plus it was this woman’s story:
http://www.definingedge.ca/news/success.php
that challenged me to give up dairy to see what it did…
I don’t know, but in three weeks I have lost 5 pounds!!
Fitness lady is right b vitamins will make urine yellow or flourescent yellow
It is strange how different foods will affect you… going off wheat and say dairy for a while usually makes people feel really really good
or quite poorly.
sounds like your finding what works.
ah, I think the worst is over…my tummy is feeling MUCH better this morning…
Now I’m just unsure if it was the dairy, or a bug my daughter had…both came on simultaneously, but I don’t want to go through this again to find out!
I wrote my mom yesterday about the whole dairy thing, and she said that I did fine with dairy. But when I was 1.5 yrs old I developed an allergy to Gluten!! ![]()
This must be the part of the stories I remember where I was really sick all the time…she said I had D. like 4x a day! I don’t know if this was confirmed by the doctors, but she said I eventually got better, and could handle products in SMALL doses…isn’t that crazy?!?
I’m wondering now if that is something you ever truly grow out of? When I developed headaches and stuff later in life, my mom said the doctors didn’t bother testing me for anything…
I looked it up real quick: http://yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com/gluten-intolerance.html
And it says it can lead to thyroid disease!!
And can also present late in life after such things as pregnancy(s)
I THINK I’m feeling better today…I have to look back over the few weeks that I tracked my food…maybe the weight loss and feeling good was attributed to getting rid of the WHEAT products! ![]()
My mom wrote me back real quick this morning and, Hmm, apparently I WAS tested as a baby, and once my mom eliminated everything I was ok…but the babysitter forgot and gave me a graham cracker for a snack and it started all over again! weird, huh?
You mentioned in my log that you ordered Max strength and one of Alwyn Cosgrove’s programs. Which one are you planning to do?
Just a huge warning if you do Max strength… You WILL likely gain weight. People keep saying that I look like I’ve lost 20 pounds but in actuality I have gained 10. I just want to prepare you because I know that you have been following your pounds.
Oh and you will have to eat quite a bit more. It is REALLY metabolically demanding. If I haven’t eaten enough before I lift, I get light headed and my lifts suck!
Thanks SB! I’m not really ‘planning,’ to do either…but got both just to add to my library…I was book shopping online this weekend and probably got $150 worth!! ![]()

Dang, that was a lot…did some Saxon side bends too-3x10x10s
Had to pull out 20min of cardio out of my butt…Hill intervals-Bike-Level 11
Looks like a good workout, I can’t wait till Thursday so I can saxon’s again. Since starting cardio back in the routine have you found more endurance?
absolutely!
Actually I just went out for a walk yesterday…this base happens to be really hilly, and I found that I wasn’t out of breath like last year, and could get up the hills “easier”…
Also riding the bike at the gym so much lately, is building up the muscular endurance in legs, and I think is attributing to the slimming down that has been going on… ![]()
The only thing I suck at is doing things like running and jumping rope, but Im not supposed to anyway because of my knees!
