I live in a small town of about 2000 people, the population swells a bit because we’re on the shores of Lake Winnipeg, which is big enough that you can’t see the opposite shores, so its like a faux ocean. So it can be a hot tourist spot.
This january my dog broke her collar and wandered around town. Within 45 minutes of her escaping, the dog catcher is called and she is caught.
Shes a small bull mastiff, so she does look a bit intimidating, and being such a small town, she was easily found.
Fast forward to this Sunday night. I’m at home, reading T-Nation articles, the dog has just been let out, shes in her kennel. I hear her start to bark, I get up, but before I reach the door, she stops so I go back to my laptop.
My wife gets home 20 minutes later, and asks where the dog is, since she didn’t greet her at the door.
I look outside and go to her kennel, there are foot prints leading from our lane to her pen, and her gate is unlocked and open.
Some asshole actually came into my yard and let my dog out.
I’m now leaning towards the belief she has actually been taken because the dog catcher has not had anyone call in about her, he has looked around town all day for two days (not alot for him to do anyway, so hes spent alot of time driving) and I’ve searched all over town as well.
So my dog was actually stolen. Who steals a dog and why?
ppl steel dogs for breeding some times but most of the time, and seeing how its a small Bull Mastiff it was stolen to fight or be a chew toy for a fighting dog. If she was stolen you have my sympathy b/c you most likely wont get her back.
I have a Pitt Bull mix and had a gps chip implanted in him just for this reason b/c it is a very common thing

She is crossed with a husky, so she lacks the muscular build and size of a pure bred mastiff. I can’t imagine someone would steal her for breeding.
This just leaves me with alot of aggression and no where to unleash it. [/quote]
I don’t blame you for wanting to bust somebody up.

Like i said they will use her as a chew toy. They bind their mouths so they cant fight back and let the other dog just chew on them to get the tast of blood.
I really really hope this isnt the case!!! I would F***ING KILL!! and one who tryed to hurt my dog and I know alot of other ppl are the same. I hope she just got out and you find her. I really do
