A Stronger Snatch 2011

I can snatch a kettlebell but I just can’t get my head around a barbell snatch. I’m mildly dyspraxic so sometimes it takes me a long time to master complex moves. We’ll see what happens when I do my Oly workshop next month.

Deadlifting is awesome, as always. (Jealous!) I’m also envious of the sushi. I love that stuff!

And your form can’t be that subpar for the Oly. Subpar is when you hit yourself with each rep or feel like you’re going to fall backwards and have to pray that you don’t make a scene in front of everyone… like me ;D

a kettlebell snatch actually seems harder to me. hmm.

nuetral grip pullups: bw x 6; +10 x 4; +15 x 3, 3; bw x 5
bb behind the neck press: 60 x 8, 8
bb incline press: 75 x 8, 8, 8, 8, 8
db row: 70 x 10R/10L; 80 x 15R/15L
db farmer’s walks: 70’s x 50 steps, 50 steps, 50 steps
hang clean & push press: 65 x 10; 75 x 8
mile walk to the store to buy a case of beer. warm and sunny enought out i was sweating in a tshirt. and i’m not much of a sweater. yay!!

oh quick question. when i foam roll my ass i can feel a giant ball in my left glute. what do i do??? just use a hard ball and try to break it up??? when i’m on the foam roller i can feel it “jump” over the “knot” or whatever it is. if anyone knows anything about this holla. =+)

Yeah, I imagine the walkouts help the body get used to the weight. And it’s a bonus that other people will stare like “Did she just squat that weight? Darn, I wasn’t looking. But that’s hot.” lol

Nice rowing girl, I’m not even trying to catch up on you with those.
And those hang cleans and push presses killed me with 75# x 4, so I applaud you.

Take a lacrosse ball and sit on it on a table or other hard surface and roll it around til you make something change. You can also extend your leg, if you are sitting on a table with the lacrosse ball under your hurty hurt “goat” then extend your foot in & out and work that around til you get it worked out.

Or use a BB on the floor and roll on it like you do your foam roller.

thanks masch and nikki. yeah i had to try walking around with the 70’s. i get bored sticking with the same weight. they rearranged the gym so now i have to make more turns and stuff to get the 50 steps. they KILL mah grip… especially after pullups and rows. love em. =+)

yeah n8tive i did roll around on a ball for awhile but i didn’t get much change. even did the pumping thing too. (you can tell i’ve been watching a lot of mobilitywod vids eh? haha) i’m guessing i just need to work on it harder and longer. boo! mostly cuz i have nowhere to do it at home and have to wait til i’m nannying tomorrow. oh well. gives me something to do. =+)

i was using what looked like the newest barbell and it sucks monkey balls for gripping. my grip was slipping so bad on the 275’s. i need to remember to bring in chalk on dl day.

i was at the gym about 1.5 hours before football starts and i was the only soul there 80% of the time. yay!

What happened with your deads? Did you take a big step back for form work or…? Don’t know how to ask this without coming off assholish. Not my intent. Just know you used to pull 330+.

i pulled 330 after coan philippi… but that was well over a year ago. didn’t do much deadlifting this last year. mostly because i was working 15 hour days, 7 days a week and a lot of it was farm stuff and i couldn’t swing it with heavy lifting. and then i went through the breakup and spent more time crying than working out. lol

i think my 1rm now is around 300. but i should be able to hit the 3 x 325 goal by june i think. and do so MUCH leaner than when i hit the 330.
