yah that breakup was rough rough rough. we’d lived together our entire adult lives. and i still loved the shit out of her. but i’m finally moving in the right direction. whew.

hahaha REALLY??? i mean i’ve said many times i didn’t do much lifting this last year. and my last log on here was all about going back and focusing on mobility and stuff. and i went away to europe for a few weeks where i never lifted.

NONE of my lifts are where they were fall of 2009. around then benched 150, squatted 200, mp’d 110, and deadlifted 330.

all those lifts are down a good 10 - 15 percent right now. i pulled 285 easily last week… so i think i would probably max around 300… which would only put my dl down 10%.

so yeah. i’m still on the fighting my way back to where i was phase. hence why i never get to use the notation PR. lol

nancy - not sure what my weight was when i pulled 330. i definitely put on a good 5-10 lbs during that summer while i was bulking and running coan philippi dl. i tried to look back in my log but i didn’t see a bodyweight listed around there. i was probably around 137 or so. i did see that i had just gotten the 110 lb military press that same week. lol

yeah so long story short. didn’t lift consistently from march 2010 - nov 2010, so therefore my strength is still down from previous maxes. =+)

got up early to get in a gym sesh before a day of football and carbs.

remind me to never go to the gym in the morning again. i get there and there is one guy upstairs on a treadmill. he proceeds to scream out orgasmic noises… including multiple yeah baby’s, oh fuck oh fuck’s and a ton of grunts. and there were slow jams playing. i wanted to rip out my brain. fml. he finally leaves and in comes mr. talker. sets up at the rack next to mine to do swinging curls and ask me every detail of my life.

good times.

but i got the workout in and will never go back to this gym before 10am. ever. lol

My rows are down too. It isn’t a beating. She’s a big girl. There was a time when we all saw Molly’s kroc rows and everyone got motivated and was pulling crazy weight. The forum as a whole goes through phases. Now it’s all military press and pullups.

naw i never had access to db’s. i had a db handle… but rarely used it cuz it was a bitch to load with 10’s and i couldn’t get it higher than about 70 lbs.

i did almost all pendlay bb rowing back then. i think 155 for a couple reps was my best. can’t remember.

omg if the jets pull this off then i went 4/4 on who i wanted to win this weekend! can’t remember that EVER happening. i usually am happy to have two teams win.

nadia - i’ve ran 5/3/1 some… and did the coan philipi dl program… but yeah i usually just go with my own thing. once i start to plateau i’ll usually start following an actual program. right now i’m just trying to improve all my lifts, get form nailed down, and hit my turning 30 goals. my deads respond best to near maximal training and my legs respond best to higher reps… so i keep that in mind when i train.

right now i’m trying to put 40 lbs on my front squat in the next 4 months. so 10 lb a month. should be doable. i’ll be the most strategic on fsq’ing and mix it up all the time with accessory work. lots of deficit deads, box squats, step ups, leg press, etc etc. and i’m running 531 for my mp. i’ll stick with that as long as i’m making progress.

ok enough babble. basically i just try to progressively lift and listen to my body when it’s screaming for a couple days off. i can push the hell out of myself in the gym and just try to stay north of vag without being stupid. and i’m working like a mofo on mobility and mah goats.

my nutrition has been SUPERB lately. and that has a lot to do with how my strength gains go. nutrition is huge.

speaking of that i’m finally getting lean!! i’d say i’m about 4-5 weeks of locked down cutting from my leanest in my adult life goal. and since i have 5 months to do it in… that should make for easy, peasy. the not getting drunk thing is really helpful. and i’m liking the 16 hour fast/8 hour feed eating style. life is good.

got in about 6 miles of walking today. sun was shining and it was in the 70’s. fabulous squared. wore a tank top and can already see a little brownness on ze arms. and i have the next couple days off and the weather is sposed to stay phenomenal for them. yay!!

Thanks for the detailed response. I’m looking forward to watching you reach your goals. Ahh nutrition. That’s good for me to read. I need to clean up my diet. It 's so easy to buy into the you gotta eat to get strong mentality. But I’m sure my prs are not made from my post work out cookie dough indulgences. If only.

i’m of the opinion that if you’re eating at a surplus… the nutrition doesn’t play as big of a role. as long as you’re getting sufficient protein, eating a variety of foods and getting lots of fresh fruits/veggies then i think some junk is more than fine.

it’s when you are trying to make strength gains on a deficit that you really have to make the most of the calories you’re taking in and focus on macros, nutrient timing, food quality, etc etc.

so if you’re just trying to get strong… then enjoy the shit outta that cookie dough! omnomnom.
