A Reboot Possible?

I am now 45. Returning after. Five year hiatus. I would say now a beginner again. I did powerlifting for about 8 yrs then job and life got me. Now with two degenerative disk I am starting over and attempting to recomposition my body. 1.because I cant take feeling like this any longer. 2. My son is starting HS and I never wanted to not be able to move and play sports with him. 3. My overall health. I not only looked and functioned better but overall was just solid. Need to get feel that again, but lost and overwhelmed on where to start. I have a decent home gym. Rack, bench, lat pull down, leg extension and landmine, sandbags, bands dumbells.

Sure man, you can make a comeback and get into better shape. I think a couple posters your age are kicking ass doing that exact thing currently. What’s the biggest issue, right now?

Sore back?
Poor Health?
Overweightness?
Or just being out of shape from the lay off?

Can you get started with some lifting and walking now, or do you need to address some rehab or health stuff first?

Are you still committed to powerlifting, or will you be satisfied lifting for health and muscles?

I think the key here is just to start. You don’t have to get everything perfect right out of the gate. In this game things have a way of evolving. You’ll figure it out once you get started. If you used to lift you have a pretty good idea of what to do.
