A Question for Coach Waterbury

Chad,

A while ago I read an article on your website about a warm-up method called “Overshooting the Training Load” or something similar. How do you feel about that method now, as I notice warm-up techniques are never really discussed in your articles. It is a difficult task for 10x3, but very valuable in a 3x10 or similar higher rep training protocol, as it makes the lighter sets seem lighter (almost like wave loading). My only problem is it seems almost like a crutch, and I have difficulty using the same loading if I don’t do it. Should I not be using this method all the time? I want to be able to be as strong without it, and it seems to take a long time to properly warm up in this manner, especially as my lifts get into the high 300 lbs. Your opinion on this matter would be appreciated.
