I was going to just post this on my training log, but I thought maybe some other people would like to participate. There are several of us going to do a small competition. The events are as follows
Day 1
Vertical jump
Standing broad jump
250# sled drag - distance
Pull-up hang - time
50 yd car push - time
Day 2
Triple jump
185# deadlift - reps in 2 min
Dip support - time
40 yard dash
Basketball throw
Tire Flips - reps in 1 min
We have selected these events because they are basic, something you can’t cheat and an overall good test of strength and athletic ability.
We are not claiming to be anything special just doing this for fun and thought others might want to try. We will post pictures and video of some events. Let us know how you do and if you have any questions ask. July 8th and 10 are when we will be doing this.
Defining the events;
The first two events are self explained.
The sled is homemade so there will be obvious variations if you pull your own sled. mark the distance when the sled stops moving no pausing or rest.
Pull-up hang will be on 1" dia rings homemade.
Dip support will be on the rings as well.
Car pushed is a 2003 Grand AM.
Triple jump on grass no pit, look it up.
Basketball throw is regulation men’s thrown however you wish.
Tire weighs approx. 275#

You will need to put some sort of a time limit on the sled drag. Otherwise, if I were competing in your competition, I would pull as far as possible, than lie down and take a nap. Then get up and pull some more. Then repeat.

You’d need to eat at some point.[/quote]
So I go eat and come back and pull. I don’t see a rule that says I can’t leave the pulling area.
I know I’m purposefully being a dick, but that’s why there needs to be clearly defined rules for things like this. You never know who will find the loophole.
Let me know how far anyone gets the basketball toss, I had to do something similar only on my knees and I couldn’t pass a certain line and some other weird restrictions I got over 100ft pretty easily curious to know how you do it.

Why not just bring the food with you to begin with, that will save all the walking in and out of the pulling area.
Actually I thought it was a good catch.
You could do any of the following:
A) One constant pull until the sled comes to a stop.
B) The furthest pull in a certain time frame.
C) A certain distance in the least amount of time.

Alright the standard has been set instead of bashing us do the events in order and post your numbers. Like I said before this is a benchmark for myself I want to measure myself now and see where I am at later.

I was never bashing you I just think any slighly trained male should be able to do rep s with 225+ I mean how many reps are you guys planning to hit 20+ thats silly.
Touch and go we are going for max number of reps possible in 2 minutes. you can go as slow or fast as you want to. good luck I look forward to seeing want others can do.
you are probably right that weight is light, but the guys I expect to do this with me are far less trained than myself. They would be around 10 reps with 225.
