Hahaha as long as you stick to a plan of not having a plan! But for this fall and winter, I like your powerlifting program even better.
Hahaha a high-risk gym day fo sho! Glad you bounced back with a great workout today.
Man I honestly think it had something to do with pulling the sled a few hours after. I think the bloodfliw and lack of eccentric aided in the muscular recovery
Makes sense to me. Sled pulling/pushing is such a good workout - it simultaneously builds strength and endurance while leaving the body refreshed. At least, after recovering for a little while.
Time is running out. Thereās one week to pick your program/plan.
Iām all over the place! Alot of pressure knowing Iām locked in for 4 months!
I eliminated high frequency squats for you. I think there are too many things that can go wrong to be stuck with that for four months (injury, recovery, etc). My vote for you (because I donāt have to do it) is Deep Water. Start with Beginner and go from there.
I love the look of the bench sessions and I canāt ignore (or duplicate) @T3hPwnisherās results.
This is a good time to try something that makes you nervous. For me, committing to a CrossFit hybrid for four months goes against my usual training approach. Itās not structured like the things to which Iām accustomed, and that bothers me.
I will certainly be the Deep Water whisperer for whoever needs it.
I read the Deep Water beginners squat program and my 50 yo hip was like⦠are you nuts?
Do like me and get some replacement parts. My 33 year old ACL was like āare you nuts?ā but my 2 year old ACL was like āhold my beerā
Hopefully no replacement parts, but if I make to January without any problems, I may take a crack at it.
Just bought the Deep Water Book. I think Iāll give at a go. I think if I start with a conservative 70% Iāll be ok. I hate to get into something that I cant finish. Iām a few years older than @T3hPwnisher lol. Thanks @Frank_C for the prod
Just remember itās 70% of your 10rm: not 1rm. Seen people make that mistake.
Gotcha. Iām reading it now. Is each level just 4 weeks?
6 weeks.
Ok I see. So the rest drops a minute every 2 weeks. The workouts are pretty long in the beginning Iām sure. Thanks!
They ended up being the same length for me from week 1 to week 6, but thatās because the time saved from shaving off the 2 minutes per set ended up being time I spent laying on my garage floor rolling from my side to my back and saying the f-word a lot until I regained the will to stand up.
But yeah, budget like an hour and 40 minutes for the squat and deadlift workouts. The rest arenāt too bad.
Lmao. Thanks for all the help!
Iām going to start a āWhining About Deep waterā thread soon. After putting in so many years of lifting, Iām at the stage where Iām happy with my gainz. I should just be maintaining and watching the fucking sunset. Why am I doing clean pulls? Why???
Itās always fun to watch the inevitable train derail on the program.
āClean pulls? What the hell are those? I aināt doing them: Iāll just do more rowsā
BEGIN INTERMEDIATE PROGRAM
āWhat the hell: 100 power cleans? I donāt know how to do a cleanā
The clean pulls were supposed to teach you!
