But how am I going to milk my beginner gains if all I’m doing is “technique work” for them?
I don’t care what program you’re doing, clean pulls are one of my favorite lifts. I suck at lifting heavy things. I’m not strong, even by average gym standards. I like to do powerful things though. I like being nearly 35 and able to dunk flat footed. Clean pulls help me load up the one thing at which I’m good. Not many people can get off the ground during triple extension with 350 lbs in their hands. It’s one of the small things in the gym that makes me feel superior to others.
Oddly I really enjoy deadlifts, really enjoy Powercleans. Hate high pulls of any flavour.
This is what my dazzling personality is for.
I’m not into them or any kind of Olympic lifting anymore. I just wanna lift and maintain, do a little cardio on that pedaling machine with the backrest, watch the sunset, destroy the infinity stones… That kind of stuff.
I’m built for pulling movements more than anything else (I think). Squat - suck and hate it. Bench - suck and hate it. OHP - same. Deadlifts, power cleans, clean pulls - no we’re talking!
Case and point: Best power clean - 315 lbs, best front squat - 265.
At some point I should learn how to do these
How does everyone feel about a mock meet in the week between Christmas and New year’s, as a way to show the progress these months of consistency will give?
Should hopefully give some clarity on goals as well.
Weeeeelllll that’s really not right lol

Nope, it’s not. I can pull the weight high enough to catch it in like a half squat, but if I drop to full depth with that same weight, I get buried.
Ahah I feel you anyway longer dudes/longer limbs are better at pulling but come on! A 315 power clean is insane! What is your best deadlift?
545 last June on the deadlift bar. Sadly, I quit doing all that cool stuff last November due to injuries. I’ll be getting back to it soon, though.
You need to do more pistol squats.
Bwahahaha
You’re supposed to do a jump in the middle. You know, to impress the girls
WTF and I thought Zercher deadlifts were awkward ![]()
Seems like a great move to blow both your knee and your spine at the same time!
I think that’s the grossest thing I’ve ever done in a gym ![]()
I’m down If the lifts are overhead and deadlift lol
How does this challenge fit with those of us who run a programs set by someone else. I am probably the last person to need this as I haven’t gone off plan for a little over 3 years now, but just asking.
Then your plan is to stick to said program, whoever wrote it.
I volunteer to program for you
Week One is Murph daily
Week Two is double Murph daily
Etc etc
lol that wasn’t exactly what I had in mind but I I guess it would improve my metabolic conditioning quickly, at least until I broke.
Does this mean that I can then also program for you ?!!
