A Friendly Challenge - Battling Program ADD

Notice how a certain someone isn’t mouthing back to flip.

He seems to avoid posters he’s encountered before.

Find it amusing that he has been posting mostly in the off topic section for the time he’s been a member. Relatively speaking not much on the training ones.

I tried to find some training related posts or a log but everything is in the Blue section with the exception of a few posts in the Beginner section. I assume he goes there to yell at newbies.

Chris called him out . Hasn’t posted anything training related in 8 month.

I’ve just been doing the programming my gym owner gives me. I think the conditioning effect in there is just through sheer volume. We’ve got shit like 4 x 20 thrusters or 3 x 20 step ups

Question for the panel: how about not finishing a session?

I went in at five in the am and tried to rush through some deadlifts. Long story short, bar drifted too far and I tweaked by back just enough to make an audible that additional volume wasn’t going to be productive. How would that count? Personally I’d say I’m good, since I’m not deviating from the plan. I think we need some wiggle room for game day decisions, but I’m not the whole jury.

You’re good. Think big picture for four months. Apply the usual 80/20 rule. Pursue your goal and follow your training plan most of the time. There’s still room to go in and call an audible and do something way off plan every once in a while - like chasing a bro pump in a strength phase or hitting a 1RM when you’re supposed to do high volume.

And calling an audible due to a tweaked muscle is definitely not going off plan. That’s just smart training.

And on that note, if anyone gets injured then you get a pass to change your plan to work around the injury.

Try not to do it every week, though.

Challenge accepted! I LOVE pistols

I just filmed myself attempting a pistol deadlift. It’s so bad.

There were zero seconds of anything resembling good form.

I’m in. My Program ADD fortunately only kicks in as I’m ending a program and trying to decide what’s next. I go through a full Hamlet routine then, but once I choose, I’m usually good to go for the duration.

Finishing Best Damn High Volume Training for Natties on 9/13. Then out of town for the first of three business trips between now and year’s end.

So current plan is for two 5/3/1 Rest Pause Challenges (9/30 - 12/20 and 12/30 - 2/7/2020), training 2x/week. Then another round of CT’s 20 Weeks of Superhero/Hollywood Muscle for the T-ransformation 2020 season. So for this challenge, successfully completing my first round of the 5/3/1 RPC is the goal.

I did something similar last year and came one session short of finishing the back-to-back RPCs. Trying to do better this time around.

I’ve learned there are four exercises I won’t rush or even superset heavy precisely because I’ve tweaked my back when rushing and/or supersetting them. Deadlifts are one, along with squats, push presses, and cleans.

I’m considering jumping aboard this train. @mortdk would approve

Oh yes I certainly would approve that, I think it’s a fun challenge, especially for the ones being ADD to programs.
I do however tend to stubbornly grind out sessions after sessions.
My challenge should be: change plan every 2 or 3 weeks, not allowed to use the same plan twice during the challenge, that would make my head spin

@Frank_C for the next challenge

How about putting up 3 different programs:
1 for strength
1 for hypertrophy
and 1 for conditioning or cross fit style.

Then every individual should choose something they are not normally doing.

Or just plain and simple one program like @isdatnutty “nutty’s beginner program”
If we were like 10 people using that for say 6 - 8 month’s we could compare results, would be fun.

I’m in.

I wrote a program that takes me to Christmas, I’m currently in the middle of week 2 and already mentally rewriting the program because I don’t like the high reps I was intending to force myself to do for 8 weeks.

Having seen this challenge I’ve decided Im going to stick it out.

I’m game, got to leave a little room for some fun after all. Turns out it was a good call, went in and obliterated it today!

Haha, before the pulls I rushed through some clean & presses. Was just asking for it I suppose.
