A Few Training Questions

Hey everyone, i have been training for about 1 year now, but only 3 months since the football season ended. I have a few questions that you all might think are dumb or “rookie” but whatever.

  1. When i deadlift with chalk, i always use the reverse grip with my left hand. Is it bad to always turn my left? Or should i alternate switching my grip on sets?

  2. For the front squat, does it matter which way i hold the bar? Whether its with my arms crossed, or my like the olympic style lift hold?

Thanks for the help guys!

  1. Alot of people say it will lead to uneven back development or postural problems, but that hasn’t been my experience. I’d play with it and see which way I was stronger. I know I’m stronger with my left hand over and right under. So that’s all I do now and I haven’t noticed any problems. And I pull heavy and often.

  2. Unless you are an olympic lifter, I don’t think you need to use that style. It’s really tough on your wrists if you are not super-flexible. The arms crossed version is fine (so is the sting-ray device, or using straps.)
