Oh yes I remember seeing that…those deads are more than I’ve done all week. Sad but true.
Looking good, I’d sure like to check that gym out in person, at the meet if not sooner. Keep pushing.

You made those deads look easy. That is great progress, +70 lbs. for basically the same reps. I bet you got 450+ in you right now. [/quote]
Looking like that, isn’t it? He makes for great inspiration.

Cycle5 Week3
W=206
Bike 5 min, hip thrusters x20 w medicine ball, RDL barx10, OHS barx10
Sumo w/u 135x5, 185x5, 225x5
255x5, 290x3, 325x11 PR (baseline on reps and +10# on est max = 444#)
A couple of those didn’t lockout at the top â?? makes me think I should add rack pulls in for real.
The estimated max is my best baseline on this lift. It has gone from 357 in May the first time I pulled for reps (255x12) to 444# today. My all-time best pulling sumo is 365#on March 12. I think I have a good shot at improving that by quite a bit at the end of this next cycle. I’m mostly over the crud but I’m still going to finish out this cycle skipping the assistance work.

Great job on the deads and solid progress btw.
Thanks FF!

Bike 5 min, Sh Rehab, Face Pulls, PullAparts, LYT
MP barx10, 65x10
90x5, 105x3, 115x13 PR Reps
Matches the estimated 1 rep max of 165 from last week. 115# was my 1 rep max on May 2nd … can you say beginners gains? I knew you could!
During month one of this program I repped out 90x13, so do you think a 25# increase at reps translates to a 50# increase in the 1RM? Stay tuned and find out in about 4 weeks.
Soldog, GREAT progress! That is a major increase! Makes me feel even better about moving to 5/3/1.

When my current routine flattens out I’m thinking the same.
Very impressive SD, the deads in particular are looking great.
Wow, great gains SD! Congrats! I’m jealous of your MP strength. But then, I’m jealous of just about everyone’s MP strength, and their ability to do them without feeling like their arm is about to pop out of socket.
Thanks for the good words guys! They are much appreciated.

w/u bike 5 min, bw squat x10 bw OHSx10
Squat Barx10, OHS Barx10 135x5, 165x5, 195x5,
225x5, 255x3, 285x3 PR +2 reps
On May 1st I did 285x1 testing my max and during Cycle 1 of this program I did 240x4 in week 3. So I’m guessing a 30# increase in my max squat.
Nice work, Soldog. That’s a huge gain in only a few short months.
Really nice work!
big progress, your MP is great!
Squats looked solid.
Good job on the squats, SD!!!
Solid squats there SD>
Thanks all - I was hoping for 1 or 2 more reps at 285 but after number 3 went up so slow, I decided to call it there. I do notice that I still have the finer point to work on: knees out & chest up come to mind.
I did go back and look at my previous effort at 285# - YouTube
Pleased to see some improvements and that I’m getting better depth on all three reps as compared to before…

I agree completely. The videos really show the progress…in strength, depth and form. Great job!
That was some deep squatin’. Aren’t we all working on knees out & chest up? ![]()
squatting, more than any other of the big lifts, requires constant queues.
meant to say cues

Crap! I’ve been doing knees up and chest out!
Thanks everybody! and yes kimba - most all of us are working on knees out and chest up. mcl is probably the only exception to that rule…
