I have allergies and sinus pain can kick your ass.
rest up
nice work training sick
I’m so glad I rarely have to deal with sinus issues. Get better, soldog.
I can’t wait to see how your lifts go! Great luck on the meet!

That’s all she wrote, I can’t start breathing heavy without coughing and hacking my throat and lungs out. I was going to test my maxes next week but after this crud, I’m just going to tweak the final numbers so that they equal my starting max numbers from the beginning of May and rep out. Then at the end of Cycle 6, I’ll go for maxes again to set my openers for the December meet. I find thinking about the meet makes my old self-doubt reawaken especially after these last two weeks of personally disappointing efforts.
I did just look again and saw that at least two of the main lifts had PRs and that made me feel a little better. I’ve got to just keep myself out of that spiral of personal negativity and not get down on myself over ever perceived failing.
Dog, just look in the mirror and say, “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!”
Actually, I think you’ve been making great progress. You can’t really expect to perform very well with the flu.
Your going to tear up that meet!!!
rest up- get out the lung/nose crud
training with a cold sucks. you might want to consider just hitting the reps and backing off the accessories until your crud is gone.
You’ll be fine SD< being sick seems to drain the life out of everyone but you’ll be right back at it.
plenty of rain in salt lake, you must be getting snow by the foot now

Cycle5 Week3
W=208
Warm-up: Sh reh, pull aparts, LYT, 25 push-ups
Bench barx10,10 95x5, 115x3, 135x3
155x5, 175x5, 195x2 (PR +1 rep over May 2nd)
I guess that’s the progress for six months, 1 rep to 2 reps. Next month I will try for a 1RM PR
I have got to stop dropping by the used sports equipment place near work. Today there was a used but practically brand new 300# Olympic barbell set for $120. So I now have 765#s of plates, 2 regular bars, a SSB and that great rack. Along with the smaller weights and dumbbell handles…
I need to get lifting to justify this, I also need to stop going into that store at lunch time…

That’s awesome. Having two bars can really speed things up. I used to have two and could alternate bench and rows or squats and light deads. Got me through workouts a lot quicker.
I have bar envy over the SSB.

and you know - I haven’t even used the SSB yet 'cause I’ve working so hard on my regular squat form.

SSB could only help that I would think. By all reports, it forces you to keep your chest up, the balance points make it almost an olympic style squat, where the body is more upright, forcing you to really fire the glutes to get out of the hole. You typically have to drop weight using that bar.
I need a sugar Mama.

I didn’t know that about the SSB. I think I 'll try it with my assistance squat work next cycle.
Ain’t got no sugar Mama - just a lot of paid OT as a rocket scientist with 20+ years in the biz…

Cycle5 Week3
W=206
Bike 5 min, hip thrusters x20 w medicine ball, RDL barx10, OHS barx10
Sumo w/u 135x5, 185x5, 225x5
255x5, 290x3, 325x11 PR (baseline on reps and +10# on est max = 444#)
A couple of those didn’t lockout at the top â?? makes me think I should add rack pulls in for real.
The estimated max is my best baseline on this lift. It has gone from 357 in May the first time I pulled for reps (255x12) to 444# today. My all-time best pulling sumo is 365#on March 12. I think I have a good shot at improving that by quite a bit at the end of this next cycle. I’m mostly over the crud but I’m still going to finish out this cycle skipping the assistance work.
I can’t seem to find the where and when about your comp coming up. Denver or the Springs perhaps?

It’d be great if your schedule allows you to be there.
You made those deads look easy. That is great progress, +70 lbs. for basically the same reps. I bet you got 450+ in you right now.

x2. Great work/progress, soldog. You’re gonna do great at the meet! The adrenaline alone will be worth PRs…
