A Dog's 531 Journey

Great work, soldog. Hope the deload/time away goes well.

Enjoy your time off! I’m headed to Vegas tomorrow myself, and won’t be back in the gym until Tuesday to finish up this week’s work.

Enjoy your vacation and come back ready to work!

Well a long break and widening my bench grip didn’t help me at all tonight. I barely got the reps and the assistance work went out the window. I hope the deadlifts go better on Thursdayâ?¦

Good to have you back! It will take a few days to get back in the groove.

Welcome back, now its time to lift some heavy shit!

Hey! Your form improved! Stayed nice and tight throughout the set.

Thanks guys!

DCA - it’s good to hear something improved since it felt much heavier than it should have.

So true.

Welcome back, soldog! I never seem to come back strong after a break, either. Don’t worry; it comes back quick.

The good news is you should quickly progress and zoom based where you left off.

Welcome back!

…now get to work

working… working… trying to stay awake while working… zzzzzzz

We missed you, hope you had a good time, how’s the wife an kids? Is the east still there? Enjoy the air below 10000 ft? How’re ole sun en’ moon dog doing?
Ok, enough pleasantries. With the heigth of your supports are you having to untuck your shoulder blades to make the initial lift off? Might lower them a notch or 2. If not unucking, disregard. Like how you’re grip spacing is staying wider.
Oh yeah, welcome back for real.

The east was still there. It was like swimming in the air between the humidity and denser air, wife, kids and dogs are all hanging in there… Thanks for askin’…

You are correct that I should lower the support a notch. I was experimenting a bit to minimize the liftoff distance but with the wider grip, I didn’t have enough range to liftoff comfortably. I don’t know if I was untucking but it was close enough to lower them the next time.

Found out at Wado class tonight that I’ll be testing for 2nd brown belt on Monday along with my wife and another guy testing for 3rd brown. A little bit of a surprise because the test was scheduled for Saturday while I was in the east. But my wife and the other guy couldn’t make it for one reason or another (something about being sick or working).

Should be fun, I’ll see if I can get somebody to video some of the festivities.

Still not in the groove, so I decided to take this week at just reps no maxing. At least I did more of my assistance work today…

Got a funny pain in my forearm just below my elbow over the break, so I decided to treat my elbows like I do my knees and use neoprene sleeves for some minimal support and the warmth. It seemed to help today.

Looks good, dog. You’ll get back into the groove before you know it. Keep at it!

X2. That’s one of the reasons I hate taking time off from lifting…even when I really need it.

Good call. Your getting your work in, but avoiding any head games that come about from not hitting PRs. I’m kind of doing something similar with my DL right now.

slow and steady wins the race, dawg
