solo dog, great benching. The big but boring workout is really working for you. I like the full beard with the bald head look. I do that a lot in the winter.
soldog,
Nice work…the weights and the GPP.
Please forgive the ignorance, but what is BBB Bench?

BTW, I FINALLY bottled that Irish Ale today. I always taste the beer when I measure the FG, and it was good. I was worried about autolysis, but it looks like I got to it in time.[/quote]
Hey that’s great on the beer - I assume you bottle condition your ales so it will be good to go in month or so?

Thanks eco - I’ve worn the beard for almost as long as I could grow it. Sometimes wild mountain man style, I’m liking the close cropped style now.

Thanks LS - the BBB refers to “Boring But Big” accessory work which is your main lift done for 5 sets of 10 reps at around half your training max. It can be a real killer…
14 June 2009
w=195.5
Bike 5 min
Cycle 2 Week 1 5s
Squat day (training max = 260)
Barx10 115x5 135x5
working sets 170x5, 195x5, 225x8 (PR reps +1)
BBB squats 135 5x10
These all felt heavy today…

Thanks soldog. I should have known that. I have read the book 3 times. Sometimes I can be so dense…
Hey Soldog,
Thought I’d come over and harass you at your house. I just went through this whole 531 thread. Your squats, have really come a long way in a short time. Well, all your lifts have improved a lot, thanks to an incredible amount of hard work.
One thing I noticed - on the last 2 or 3 reps of that 225X8 squat set from today, it looke like your right knee was caving inward slightly as you powered out of the hole. I may be wrong, because the loose sweatpants were moving around quite a bit. I always think “Push the knees out” as I’m coming back up.

Thanks for coming over John! - The knees caving is a continuing project for me and it isn’t just the right one. During my accessory squats, the two things I focused on were the knees and locking the bar down 'cause it was slipping down my back during that 225x8 set. I had to go up on my toes to rack the bar.
Way to go, soldog. I think I may try BBB for my next cycle, just to mix things up.

It’s coming along really fast, though. You’ve made so much improvement over the last few months, it’s amazing.

Bike 5 min, SH Rehab, YTWL
MP wu barx10, 65x5
Working sets 75x3(2), 85x3, 95x13 (PR reps +2)
Assistance:
A1 pullups/chinups alternating 6/6/6/6/4/4

Screwed up after getting interrupted and did two sets at 75
13 reps is great. Especially at 84 and a half kerjillion feet of altitude.
Left shoulder giving you any trouble? You seem to be adjusting so as to put less torque on it.

The only trouble with the left is that it is weak. Today the right shoulder had a weird band of muscle sliding back on forth over something. I’m thinking that next cycle I’m going to do unilateral assistance exercises because I’ve been noticing more of this imbalance showing up in most of the main movements.
face pulls
scap pushups
ytwli
and yes bring on the unilateral work,
its working for me, tendonitis aside.
