Damn - I read that without the “s,” and thought WTF!
Thanks, mcl
Great job on the deadlifts.
How do you find the high reps?
Very nice. And given your flexibility, I bet you can point your toes as far out as you like.
I haven’t tried deficit DLs yet. I am looking forward to them…with mild reservation.

I can get my feet parallel to the bar but they don’t stay there. When I push through the heels, my feet rotate and end up about 30 degrees off parallel. That’s why I was fidgeting between each pull, trying to find a place where the feet would stay put. The deficit deads kicked my butt big time after that set of 14.

HA - they kick ass. Even with standing and taking a breath between each pull, I was ready to pass out from oxygen debt by the end of that set.
Looks like you got bored before you got tired ![]()

Oxygen debt and black spots floating around…
you are right though - muscle strength wise there were a few more in there. I do notice my hips were rising earlier with each rep towards the end.
Must be all the fight practice you do, because your face doesn’t change very much through the set. Ny the end of a tough set I feel like I’ve been pressing weights with my face from all the grimacing.
Hey soldog
Nice work on that dead, that is a good amount of weight for such high reps. I’ll bet you get some leg and back growth out of that! Make sure you are pulling yourself down to the bar looks like you are leaning forward a bit and I’d switch grips ever set if you are going to do a mixed grip.
Your dead lift is going to go through the roof! Have you gained any weight, lost any fat doing this?
EDIT: I mean to say switch grips every rep…

Form looks pretty darn good, you seem to be twisting and bouncing out of the hole a bit. Force your knees out hard at the bottom and allow the to push you up. You also might include some unilateral work in case you have a leg discrepancy and Eric Cressey just wrote a good article on the back that could have some benefit.
You are looking strong and the hard work is there man, keep it up!
WOrking hard as usual!!
Your only on week three? Seems like it’s been longer…

naw - just me being stoneface. during sparring practice I’m usually grinning like a fool. That only gets serious during a tournament or rank testing. maybe I have yet to challenge myself enough to have to effort make it to my facial expression?

Thanks for the comments free. It’s a good thought to switch grips, if I can remember it. Last night I had a hard time counting to 5 and did 6 reps on my middle set. Looking at the vid I believe you are right that I was leaning forward. I’ve maybe lost some fat around my middle and maybe gotten some more muscle size but I haven’t done any measurements to be sure. Weight has been fairly stable in the 195-200 range for a few months now.
On the squats, I do need to put some unilateral work in my assistance because I do have some imbalances to correct. They’ve been getting better but still show up on my heavier sets.

Thanks M-i-M!
My first cycle took about 6 weeks with travel and the eye issue. I’m actually on week 1 of cycle 2. I think what you saw was Free quoting me from Sunday’s session.
Went golfing with my son today for the first time this year and my hamstrings and legs bitched at me the whole time. Back felt good though which might be a sign that I was using more of my legs and less of my back for those deads yesterday evening.
Dog you have been tearing it up! great work

Another lumberjack day, this one wasn’t as much fun. Clean up of all the slash. Haul and pack the slash (branches) into the pickup and take them to the collection point. Five loads - at least I had my son and one of his friends as paid helpers…
Hey Perro del Sol,
Good job on those benches! BTW, I FINALLY bottled that Irish Ale today. I always taste the beer when I measure the FG, and it was good. I was worried about autolysis, but it looks like I got to it in time.
