Ive done many, they are my favorite type actually. Good combination of power, strength and explosion drills. I dont stick to them cause I cannot do bench any more.

One of my Box owner friends uses Xfit football as his performance WOD…he has a general fitness WOD and the football option, for his members who want a little less Metcon and more explosive lifting.
Despite it’s flaws, CrossFit can get a barbell in the hands of those who normally would never have considered it and that is a very good thing.

Exactly… because of Crossfit, olympic lifting and deadlifting has never been so popular! No longer do you look weird when you do a snatch! Crossfit might actually, in a way, save olympic lifting in north america. Many start practicing the OL to be better at Crossfit and end up transferring.
I’ve attended a crossfit gym for the past year, and have grown an addiction to Olympic lifting. the instruction is high quality, and has become an emphasis in the programming. The issue with crossfit is the variability in the quality of instruction from box to box. But that applies to just about everything, there are bad apples everywhere.

Any chance you can give us the name of your box? Do they put their programming online?
It’s cool if you want to keep some anonymity. ![]()
For anyone interested ESPN has been re-playing the 2012 crossfit games. I’ve been pretty impressed with the physique, strength, and athleticism of all the male and female athletes. ESPN had the Clean Ladder on the other day, which I thought was pretty cool. The guys were hitting 315-345 pretty consistently.

I have noticed them replaying them also. But I only saw the female scheduled to be on. Looked like they know who their big draw is haha.

That’s funny, I’ve only seen 3 “episodes” and 2 were mens events. The first was a 20’ rope climb/20 meter sled push and the second was the clean ladder. The womens one was the finals with “Fran,” “Isabelle,” and something else I missed. I tell you what those women are jacked.

I agree.
Funny, I joined a Crossfit gym that had an option to do Olympic lifting only, and now I’m starting to get hooked on some of the Crossfit workouts! Is that a bad thing? I don’t know.

I plan on starting OL because it has to be good for my explosiveness… right now I have little to none LOL
If I were going to do CF, I would do one of these three: The Outlaw Way, Invictus, or CFFB. Outlaw esp if you want to be good at OLYs.

Looking over the Invictus site now. Any clue what the difference is between the “Performance” and the “Fitness” WODS?

Maybe not this one…since Rudy “accidentally” punched his wife in the face after she asked him not to let his mistress work out at their gym.
Hipster asshole.
My gym, Flatirons Crossfit, has a separate “weight room” WOD designed for those who want to get better at OL. Some of the more recent CF WODS have OL skill exercises. However, if you are new to OL the OL workouts posted on the site may not necessarily be appropriate. They are essentially based on a Bulgarian model. You lift every day and frequently you go as heavy as possible or AHAP.

I agree, he’s an asshole. I wouldn’t want to hang with him. But his programming is good, esp if you are looking for an Oly bias. He routinely sends people to the Games.
