Hopper/dropper is a classic.
I got my one and only double- a brook and a rainbow on a yellow foam spider I was using as a strike indicator and olive wooly bugger. The brook shot out and hit the bugger, then the rainbow hit the spider.
English please.
@SkyzykS This fly fishing thing looks awesome
I’m suspicious that fly fishing is not really more effective than letting the bait just sit in the water and that it has been created through a combination of superstition and a desire to look busy while fishing.
To be clear, I have never fly fished and haven’t done much fishing of any type, so this opinion is obviously ignorant and probably wrong. I’m still suspicious, though.
I’m a basic hobbyist fisherman and I have never once fished next to a fly fisherman who has caught more fish than a worm and bobber.
My uncle who I love dearly will watch everyone else on the boat slam largemouth bass left and right on rubber worms or haul in palm-sized crappies on live bait while he’s trying to out-smart the fish with his wollybugger sprycaster cicada pattern he spent two hours making last week before concluding that he needs to switch to a five gauge hogshead adapter for the #7 tippet.
Explaining this to everyone else on the boat while they’re busy catching fish is an important part of the fly-fishing experience.
It’s more “sporting”. Think bow hunting vs rifle.
Sure. But it feels more like rifle hunting while standing on one foot. It’s harder because you are just adding irrelevant extra steps.
I mean, sure. No commercial fisherman is casting a fly haha. Why bow hunt? Why drive a classic car? Why ride a bicycle instead of driving? Why use a sailboat, etc, etc.
It doesn’t always have to be about efficiency. Sometimes it’s nice to enjoy the process and feel more connected to the activity.

Bingo. This is why women hate it when men have hobbies.
Women want fried ice. Stay on your purpose King. They also lose attraction if you prioritize them. Strange self-defeating creatures
My experience has been the complete opposite but you keep doing you, king.
*King… cool story.
Same. Though you seem to have a good head on your shoulders and can probably tell the good ones from the projects.
