You guys waste time brewing it?

I think those here understand this.

I’ve read similar articles and obviously was not fond of them.

I’m always stocked up on avocados and nuts. :grinning:

The Food Pyramid wasn’t stressed in my education. One professor was very into ketogenic, Paleo-style, and Mediterranean diets.

Several RD’s used to write articles here (Douglas Kalman, Lonnie Lowery, Ryan Andrews, and a few others I can’t remember).

Dr. Kalman was my thesis advisor. My report was about low-carb versus high card dieting for endurance training.

There are skinny-fat RD’s, obese ones, skinny ones, ordinary ones, and bodybuilder-looking ones.

I am not hating against all. Just ones that seem to take a “one size fits all” approach to nutrition.

We here all know you understand.

The problem re diet lies in everyone has their own opinion - and obviously knows best. One problem I can see in any “extreme” diets, is that the negative consequences will appear much later in time, due to the body’s fantastic ability to compensate.

I’ve met quite a few people on strange diets in my profession, where you often see a combination of narrow minded conviction combined with mental health issues. But, I’ve also realized we’re all not the same, and particular illness may require attention why diet adjustments may then be called upon. That said, you will have a hard time convincing me that either vegan nor carnivore diets are the solution for mankind.

There’s nothing wrong with the food pyramid in theory, as a general guideline.

I’ve had a few of those (different brand/roaster), and they’re pretty good. It’s basically just immersion brewing (think French press). Quality of beans, roasting, and freshness all play a big factor but those can produce pretty darn good coffee, and are super convenient.

Edit:didn’t see that was shroom coffee. That’s stupid imo. Just stick to silly cybin chocolates and good coffee. None of this micro dosing nootropic woowoo BS and compromised coffee.

These are not mushroom coffee. There are many different brands of single serve coffee bags. I have tried several and like them. Makes it convenient to take with me to the one place I go with no coffee. Crazy ass people drink monkey picked oolong but not coffee

The food pyramid is absolute trash… not in theory, in fact

I understand you’ve never applied it at all. The newly updated Nordic version is not that far from an athlete’s diet, in my opinion. But, if it were to be followed strictly, you do need to find other sources than red meat for sufficient protein. Anyone hating carbs needs to look elsewhere though. Also, not sure where my noodle addiction is placed?

It’s trash… red meat is just fine for protein… carbs aren’t essential…

I ain’t gonna debate you here. It’s just a difference of opinion. I just chose a brave (stupid) route of balancing all the hatred for the food pyramid. Adding, I personally really like red meat but wouldn’t wanna have it every single day or every meal anyway. I’m a sucker for dairy products though, which probably makes me an estrogen inflammatory bomb individual. And noodles (for other forum readers).

If America ate what the food pyramid shows (not what a fatties interpretation is), this country would be 1000x healthier.

It may not be ideal, but it shows a diet faaaaar and away better than what most people eat.

No… unequivocally no

If you are getting 9 servings of fruits and veg per day, plus 6 servings of proteins, with nothing in the way of sweets or fried foods… I don’t care how much bread and pasta you want to eat, your diet will be far better than most Americans lol.

Again, I’m not saying it’s an ideal diet. But compared to the god awful diet of most Americans, it’s be an improvement and would likely eliminate many/most cases of type 2 diabetes.

Servings. Pfft. :grinning:

The poison really is in the dose though. I grew up competing for food with 4 older siblings, so for me, a serving is as much as you can get.

As evidenced in my most recent food porn post, you can easily fit 6 drumsticks on a plate.

I only ate 4 though! So thats an improvement!

As evidenced by the fat acceptance movement, The Simpsons have once again predicted the future with disturbing accuracy.

That chocotastic group gets messy.

My personal weakness is the chocolate shell syrup.

It doesn’t even have to go only on ice cream. You can put it on anything frozen.

Chocolate chip cookies-> frozen cookies-> chocolate shelled frozen chocolate chip cookies.

If you can freeze it, you can shell it.

For illustrative purposes only:

To clarify: You’re referring to the American food pyramid from 1992, and I’m referring to the Nordic version from 2023.
