8 Year Old Bodybuilder

Someone has probably seen this before.

Any thoughts on this kid? Will he burn out? Will we see him in 10-15 years competing with an IFBB pro card?

Supposedly at 60 pounds he curls 65 pounds, flat benches 180, and does 100 dips with 60 pounds around his neck.

What kinda juice is in his juicy juice?

Yeah, this has been around. He’s now a teenager and pretty much normal looking.

Probably on some kind of Pro Hormone, but thats not what did it. He had dedicated parents with tough training and a great diet.

Even if his parents were dedicated to the wrong thing they were still dedicated.

Ya, I think right now he is living with his mom, his dad is not aloud around him since he was giving him something… I remember seeing a show a while back so I can’t remember but isn’t he not even allowed to lift weights untill a certain age?

and he looks perfectly normal now that his dad is gone.

I think his dad died.

Some info on the kid:

His father only allowed him to eat according to a strict diet, consisting of liquid nutrients and vegetables. It was also alleged that he was given numerous anabolic steroids. He was not allowed to eat foods like pizza, even when dining with others who did.

During said dining events he was required to eat only Lima beans because of their immense protein content. Pavlo guided Richard’s career until he was imprisoned for assaulting his wife. Having accepted a plea bargain, Pavlo Sandrak is currently serving a three-year sentence, and as of 2006 Richard is being trained by his mother.

Richard was allowed neither to own any toys nor to socialize with other children of his own age, and so he had no friends until his father was jailed.

Following the removal of Pavlo from Richard’s life, Richard was allowed to experience some of the normal aspects of life for children of his age, including spending time with friends, the ability to eat foods like pizza, and enjoying video games.

He continues to train, but at more moderate levels, and while still in excellent shape, does not possess the muscle definition he once had when training under his father.

His father has been criticized for focusing all of his son’s time on such intensive training, for isolating him from activities enjoyed by children his own age, the strict diet he kept Richard on, and for allegations of giving Richard anabolic steroids.

Critics point out that muscle cannot grow without testosterone, which is determined by age, fueling speculation that Pavlo was either giving Richard steroids in the form of an unknown powder, or that Richard’s true age was being concealed. Richard himself is reportedly upset by such accusations, asserting that he has passed numerous age and drug tests with clean results.

i wish my parents trained me like crazy when i was really little

I think the documentary was on Discovery or A&E and was titled Baby Hercules or something.

Why? That kid looks pretty damn average now…and extremely short for his age. He should be 16 years old now and I doubt you will be hearing much more about him. He was in a straight to video movie called Little Hercules about a year ago.

Considering how he looks now, I don’t see the way he was raised as benefitting him at all. If anything, it may be why he is as short as he is. Extreme caloric restriction should be avoided in growing children…regardless of how “cool” it makes their abs look.

Not to mention the possible longterm damage if his father did in fact give him some ‘assistance’. I have no idea whether that allegation is true or not.

This kid does not look normal. He looks a bit like a neanderthal to me. I really don’t know about that.

I should have been pro-active enough to Wiki him. I did see his straight to video trailer. That pretty much spells doom or obscurity for anyone involved in any sort of straight to video movie. All the Hogans were in it.

It’s interesting to know for sure that he most likely was given drugs. Part of me considered the possibility of “Oh. Maybe this kid is the real deal. There are about 6.5 billion people on the planet. Maybe this is the one who by chance turned out like this.”

I’ve heard other stories about kids getting messed up developmentally with weights: 11 year old girl leg pressing massive poundages Pat Roberson style was one.

I do have to say that he doesn’t look average for 16. He looks like an average 16 year old with average genetics who spends 10 hours lifting weights every week.

On a slightly different note, at what age do Olympic weightlifters start training. I’m talking about people like the lifters on the Chinese and Iranian teams. Do even the greats start out around 15 when weightlifting is deemed safe by most or do they start as early as Olympic Gymnasts?

Weight lifting isn’t the issue. Restricted caloric intake is along with possible hormone use.

I saw a whole thing about him on The Learning Chanel. Their Ukrainian immigrants. His dad is a violent nut and he’s threatened to kill a few people including the mom. This asshole never allowed the kid to play with other kids or have a normal childhood.

I’m glad you said this. Couldn’t agree more. It was yet another set of very creatively applied conclusions from studies done related to DAMAGED growth plates in children that got the whole “weightlifting in pre adolescent youths will stunt their growth” thing started.

No traps.

His “strength feats” are highly questionable.

Nowhere is there a video of him benching anything but 115.

That’s still only 5 pounds short of double bodyweight. Not bad for an 8 year old.b

His “strenght feats” aren’t as impressive as the documentaries showing 6 year old Shaolin (sp?) Monks fly through the air and wave around spears but the kid was still a freak worth noting.

the kid can play a mean guitar too
