5x5 Training

Thanks for all the feedback, I really like the sound of Bill Starr’s program. It’s a shame there can’t be a high frequency version of 5x5.

What does everyone think of 5x5 traning, for mass. Also if anyone knows of any 5x5 programs I can find on the Internet.
Thanks[/quote]

IT is great but if you are a beginner you don’t need anything that sophisticated (even though it is simple) just keep stacking on the weight … when you stall after a few months move to 5x5 or something else.

i love it, but mass comes from diet too, don’t forget

I think he should use the 5x5 but hold off on the dual factor stuff for a while. You’re right, he can do just fine for now by adding weight each week. Probably for months on end.

I have been doing a self made 5x5 routine for 3 1/2 weeks and my strenght and mass have gone up considerably. By bench is up ~10 lbs, Row ~40, squat ~100 and Dead ~100. These are begginer gains though. Also I have stayed the same weight while loosing what I would guess is like 8-10 lbs of fat.

My program looks like this.

Day 1
A Bench
B Incline Bench
C Military press
D1 Decline fly
D2 Skull crusher
D3 Lateral raises

Day 2
A Chin up
B Cable row
C Pull down (wide)
D1 BB Curl
D2 Rear delt machine
D3 Reverse Curl
D4 Shrugs 5x8

Day 3
A Squat
B Deadlift
C Leg press
D1 Leg extension
D2 Calf raise 5x8
D3 Leg curl

Everything is 5x5 unless stated otherwise. It works really well for me, but I am going to switch it up with ABBH soon probably. I really like 5x5 try it out and see what works for you, and adjust it as you go, that is what I did.
