5x5 for Muscle & Strength

Hello,

Im 20 years old 5’11" i workout for about 1 year without big results, i want to try 5x5 but little modified, i really want to make wide pull ups, here is my workout 3 times a week:

A.

  • Squat 5x5
  • Bench Press 5x5
  • Rows 5x5
  • barbell curls 3 sets

B.

  • Deadlift 5x5
  • Standing military press 5x5
  • Wide pull ups 5x5
  • Dips 3 sets

What’s your bodyweight and what is your max or 5rm on the bench press, squat, deadlift and military press?

You’d be better off investigating why you didn’t get big results. Which will come down to not eating enough, not working hard enough or making your own program up. Or all three.

I think you cant go wrong on a routine like that as a beginner aslong as you do it for a long period of time with effort and focus IMHO.

I train in a very similar manner except I use 5/3/1 on the big four lifts btw.

benchpress 130lbs
squat 180lbs
deadlift 200lbs
military press 90lbs

i think i worked hard enough maybe eat sucked, now i have full diet for muscle gain and just need a workout program, i really want to have pull ups in my plan, and not 3x squat maybe alternate it with deadlift

I can’t offer advice on what to do, as I don’t have enough knowledge. But even I can see that if you are not a woman, those numbers are very weak for one year of training. Something is clearly wrong with how you exercise/eat/sleep.
