585 x 23 Bench Press? I Call BS

So this guy supposodly just walked up to this bench and put 585 up 23 times. No fucking way,and im not just being skeptical but even the biggest benchers in the game dont just walk up to 5 or 6 hundred pounds with out warming up.Even then he doesnt use a shirt and hes not that big.

now watch Ryan kennelly do 405 20 times and remember he recently put up around 1100.

No he didn’t. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that they have fake plates at some booths for fun.

hmmmm…the random guy’s plates looked…wierd to me. notice how much ryan kennelly’s plates shake and sound compared to the random guy’s…and then the fact that at twenty reps he was able to stop the bar on his chest(which stops all momentum and rebound effect you get from your muscles off your chest), ask his friend where he was at, and then busts out more reps…i wanna call bs

lol

It’s clearly just a joke.

It probably weighs around 100 lb total

I watched the video 3 times, and I only counted 22 reps, not 23.Probably not a big deal.

I’m sure the plates were fake.

Yeah thats what I think but all the people on the youtube site all think its real and one guy claims he was there and saw it.

I doubt anyone on the planet could do that. There’s a dude at my gym who benches 495 for 3 reps and he’s twice as big as this guy. I doubt that was even 315. His form was horrible too.

Hate to burst your guys’ bubble but the video is real and so is this one

GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!

ahaahahah!

I’ve heard that Ryan Kennelly wore a single ply bench shirt under a double ply bench shirt in order to make that lift.

And I think that’s fucking awesome. Is that really so different from wearing squat briefs under a squat suit? The fact that he not only possesses the strength to support that much weight but that he also has the control and technique to handle the crazy benching groove that 2 bench shirts would demand is also amazing.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say that I hate it when people make outrageous claims about stuff they’ve done in the gym or stuff their “friends” have done…especially when it demands that their “friends” be world class strength athletes.

This past week I had a 6ft, 160lb guy say he could lift a FULL keg over his head. I’ve had another induvidual whose 240lbs tell me that his father picked him up overhead at full elbow extension and threw him. He also told me he works out with someone whose 190lbs and does Weighted Dips with 7 PLATES! His story fell apart when I asked him where the fuck he got a Dip belt with a chain long enough for 7 plates.

So they actually make bars that come BENT!? WTF!?

the fact that the 585 pounds dont shake or even bend the bar shows that its bullshit lol.

But the bar WAS bent, which is the REALLY stupid part! Somebody actually makes pre-bent bars! Check out the post above, it’s got a chick pressing 2000 fake lbs and the bar is bent.

Edit: The first vid with the 23X 585 also has a bent bar.

Its funny how that guy had 23 attempts, but not one single rep with “585”

ofcourse not, not enough room on the ends of the bar for that bad ass mofo

That is STRONG!!

I wonder why the bar ain’t bending…

Probably cos it’s the flex booth and they’re using the same plates they use in all their magazine shoots!!

I’d like to believe that Ryan Kennelley can do 585x23 with a suit.
