Hi Jim and folks.
I’m planning to start 5/3/1 SVR after my next deload week.
There is a small chapter about it in the beyond book, but I’m not sure should I push a PR set on second week (3x5 week) or just do required reps?
So should my second week look like: 65%x5, 75%x5, 85%x5, 75x5%, 65%x5 or 65%x5, 75%x5, 85%xAmrap, 75%x5, 65%xAmrap ?
Since the 1st week is rep records, 2nd is volume and 3rd is heavy singles, I wondered if 2nd week is meant to be done only 5 reps.
Thank you Jim for 5/3/1 and its principles! Training this way is most fun, effective and flexible.
You can do it either way - we almost always use the MLH programming and adjust the programming to fit that mold.
Thanks for reply! I will give both of these options a shot for 6 weeks.
One more Q.
If I go with MLH, would big assistance lifts like SLDL, front squat, GC bench, Decline bench fit in?
5s PRO, SST or 5x10 maybe?

The choice of the movement doesn’t matter - just how you program it. The key is that the intensities of the supplemental movements are in line with the programming.
