5/3/1 - Makin' the Reaper Wait

Nice skwats white boy!

I don’t get the ‘313’, though. Metric plates?
Thanks MetalMan. I want 365x12 someday.

It’s the way the percentages work out in the spreadsheet and I have fractional plates - 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 lbs - so I rolled with it.

Once the squats and deads get over 5 reps the fun just goes out the window. Nice training Tony.
Thanks, Vanessa

I have to admit, it’s easier to add 5 lbs than it is to add another rep - I like the challenge though.

My legs had more reps, but my back was tired, tired, tired. It was all pumped and cramped on the last warmup. This is why I’m considering just hitting prescribed reps for deads and focusing on speed there, letting the assistance build the hams, repair the back and saving the real effort for squats.

Tony, I’m much further down the DL food chain than you are but I agree about the heavy singles. Only thing is I don’t stop at prescribed reps. I do the money set as intended then give my self a bit of rest. I catch my breath grab some water and then either do a double at 20-30lbs heavier or a single at around +50.

I’ve been doing this for about 2 cycles but only heard about the stuff on elifts 2 weeks ago. It just seemed to help get it in my head that the next cycles DL wasn’t going to be too bad if I could double it after the money set this time.

In any case you are a damn fine lifter and your best is still to come.

I’ll have to to take issue with the first statement. Anyone perfrming a 600 rack pull is not down low on the deadlift food chain.

I think I’ll just pull back to doing prescribed reps on deads for speed or maybe two reps over. Or go to sumos exclusively which don’t seem to frag me as much.

Thanks for the props Joe. Wish I had your Heyheyhey!-dar. I want to see some Holy Oly short-shorts women in my gym.

Good work, Pale One, and good luck on your meet. I havn’t really pulled in a few months, otherwise I would give it a go. I may do the next viritual full power meet in April.

Windstorm last night picked up the trampoline and flung it around the backyard. Must have hit the chain-link fence because that’s busted too.

My son kept asking me if I would please put it back together and I said, Sure - if it’s possible, but some of the pieces got more torque than they were designed for so it’s a total loss. So I told him it was flat busted Humpty-Dumpty like. He wouldn’t believe me until I showed him the interesting angles some of the supports had attained.

The boy likes his entertainments…

With the way your lifts are progressing, you’ll make an excellent showing if you choose to compete.

Oh - and bodyweight is 194 with less butt-fat and love handles.

I just read all the posts about 1 more rep or more weight, the percentages, prescribed reps, etc. You do put a lot of thought into your program and it shows in your gains. Make some good lifts on your upcoming v. meet. You’re a few pounds lighter than last time aren’t you?

Thanks Hel. Some would say I think too much :).

I came in at 187 last time, unfortunately. I hope to weigh in at about 197 for this meet(and over 200 for the next one in April) since I’m going to pig out over the deload.

Best of luck in the meet DCA. Kick ass and take no prisoners! Great training going on here.

Good luck in the meet DCA. Remember to dump the thinking cap, and replace with the marauderMeat-PsychoKiller beanie; hmmm, might not want the impressionable young 'un taking the videos.

Nice lifiing Tony. I think you are going to really do well in the V-meet. BTW, My daughter is from Missouri. I have to show her all the time!

‘scool. I’m not a ragin’ lifter. Getting emotional actually increases my chances of missing a lift.

My son did such a great job of filming the last meet, that I want him to do it again. Plus he’s a super cheerleader.

Tru Dat.
I’ve seen a couple of your big deadlift videos and you just casually walk up, squat down and pull in one smooth motion. Almost like you are sneak’in up on the bar and catching it off guard before it decides to dig in and get heavy.

Hey DCA, I just became a member of VirtualMeet. I’m thinking of signing up for the meet next weekend. Doesn’t look like many people are signed up. Also, I couldn’t find you on the signup. I’m probably doing something wrong…

Glad you signed on. Go ahead and jine up for teh meet. It is small group so far, but I don’t think the word’s out about virtualmeet.

I sign on there as Wade, my real first name. My parents, after giving me a name best used for middle-level-bad-guy characters in Westerns-type movies, chose to call me Tony (from my middle name - Anthony) which I go by amongst friends. Official documents, the government and tax-collectors and ex-wives have to call me Wade. I dunno why I chose to sign up as Wade there, though - they’re good folks.

My percentages for deload lifts are so close to my assistance poundages that I’m not going to do the main sets for those. I’m just going to do reduced assistance during the deload.
