i agree about the leg press. i used to do them after squats to stretch my lower back out.
That is a great idea.

heheh. My abs are disappearing.

I’m so happy!

what are these mythical creatures known as abs. I heard that they only come out in the presence of Hammerzz Strength equipment, full length mirrors or repeat showings of Fight Club.

I once thought I got a glimpse of the allusive ab one morning as i stepped out of the shower and glanced into the mirror. But just as the sasquach appears in front of some tourist and then darts into the underbrush, so did my ab.
I’ve never seen one on myself (I thought I saw an ab on my calf one time, but it was just a calf), but apparently in the gym you can coax them out by curling light weights in front of the mirror, then lifting your tank top up immediately after.

just watched your vids. when will you get the call on whether the lifts were good or not? all of the squats looked deep enough. what are the requirements on the pause on the bench? it’s gotta be hard lifting off yourself and then juding your own pause. i know for me,it always seems longer than it actually is.

deads looked good as well. did you just run out of gas on the last lift?

so, you couldn’t use any gear at all?

i wish i could have been there. i would have been slapping you around. i would have gotten a few more pounds out of you:)

Nice lifts Tony. No belt is rough. Hope all the lifts get white lights.

I guess I’ll hear when they’re damn good and ready.

I tried to pause for a second at least on bench but the 255 was almost touch and go. We’re required to have a “visible pause.” Mostly to demonstrate control of the weight, I suppose. I’m at the mercy of the judges’ interpretations on that one.

I did just flat run out of gas. We had some trouble with the camera on bench so I had to take the first and third attempts twice. By the time I got to DL 3rd attempt I was fried. It 475 simply wasn’t going any farther than my knees that day. Plus I was lifting in the morning when my best lifting occurs in the afternoon. Stupid of me maybe, since I get to pick the lifting time. That was a busy weekend, though, and morning was the only slot I had open.

No gear allowed except a belt, but I don’t have any anyway.

Thanks for thinking of me, meat.

Overall I was disappointed in how low the poundages were. I was being conservative, but the top weights were harder than they should have been for me. I’m not screwing with a Hepburn program ever again. It justs eats me up and makes me weaker.

I really enjoyed the lifts where your son was cheering you on. Good stuff.

Great job! Great cheering section too!!

Nice training DCA. I’m sure the gimpy wrist will work itself out quick. Bet you PR those sumo dls soon

Tony, come to the dark side. 5/3/1. I am your father.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

My father’s name was Ben, NOT Vanessa and fer sure not Darth Vanessa.

Lookin’ good, DCA. I actually switched back to conventional from sumo, and discovered a bit of extra strength there. maybe it’s time you went to the conventional stance dark side?

Nice overhead pressing, now hit that recovery turkey and pie hard.

I keep forgetting that I don’t need to do any back work on DL days. I have three other days where it gets hit in a cycle. It always knocks the poundage down on rows and it’s too much work for the back besides.

But I just started doing sumo. I’ve been doing conventional for the last 5 months. I’m hoping that by doing sumo my conventional DL will go up.

hey Tony, have a great thanksgiving. Nice pulling too…

Turkey, pie, bisuits, ham and yams. And I’m downing 3 quarts of eggnog/whole milk (mixed 50/50 - an 1100 calorie mix) a day coming in to the holidays. I’m a couple pounds off 195 again and I"m hoping to hit 200 by End of December.

Thanks mj. I hope the best for you and yours this holiday season.
