I had the opportunity to meet Tom Platz many years ago. He was a highly motivating person and talked about training as if it was a mystical, transcendent experience. Pics do not do the man’s legs any justice. They were just mindboggling to see.

yeah but is that functional?

bodybuilders are so weak

I just thought I’d get those out of the way in advance of everyone else,

pretty cool vid though.

Thanks for posting that. Always inspiring to watch great feats of strength.

There’s an old video out there of Dr. Ken Leistner squatting 405x23 in his late 40’s/early 50’s (iirc) which I always found inspiring as well, but haven’t been able to find a copy of it floating around.

Awesome. The most I ever did was 325x20 on a handful of occasions. No belt, wraps, or supportive gear of any type. Squats done with narrow stance and ass-to-grass.

It looks more like 495 or 500 to me.

Is that KAZ in the background spotting from behind?

Yes.

It’s 500. I thought anyone who was remotely interested in bodybuilding/powerlifting/any sort of weightlifting had seen (or at least knows of) this video.

He had a competition with Dr Squat (Fred Hatfield) for reps with 500lbs, and Platz won. Hatfield had a bigger 1RM though, he could just keep packing weights onto the bar and bringing it up.

Just showing how weak bodybuilders are…

Indeed, 500lbs for reps…what a pussy.

Is he wearing a squat suit?

Dr. Hatfield too.

That was a good warm-up for him on a bad day.
