3X BW Deadlift List All Requirements

back in high school i pulled 505 @ 169 RAW during my juinior year. Since then ive goine on to pull 606 @ 219 RAW. It is much easier to pull a 3xBW at a lighter bodyweight-since strength doesnt increase proportionatly. All i have done for my deadlift training is wide stance box squats/squats, good mornings (round and arch, standing or seated) and various chain pulls (from a deficit, rackpull or from the floor…). Hang cleans also helped a bit. If you just keep listening to your body and training hard and taking the appropriate time off to rest when you need it, you will do really well.
Yup, consistency+hard work=what most people think is impossible.

i could do 3x (515 at 168) but i look skinny as shit. kinda pisses me off…
That is some very, very impressive strength.

This may sound like a stupid question but can someone tell me how it is more impressive to see a guy at say 200lbs to pull 500lbs (2.5x) than a guy at 150lbs pulling 375lbs (2.5x)? To pull 500lbs at 200lbs would take the same effort for a guy at 150lbs to pull 2.5x his weight. Yes, no?

The strength curve is not at all linear like that. Just look at the lifter rankings for each weight class and see how many in each weight class can deadlift 2x and 3x body weight. All that x’s body weight stuff is crap. Do pushups and pull ups if how many times body weight is important to you.

i pulled 405 at 195 after almost 3 months of actual powerlifting , but its pretty crazy I dont look like I can pull 405 but i do I look like a weak bitch :frowning:

Think of it like this: generally, it isn’t really HOW MUCH you can lift that determines how “big” you look all-around. What usually makes more of a difference is how much IMPROVEMENT you’ve made over starting strength levels. This is largely due to certain people having mechanical advantages/disadvantages in lifts.

Yes, I agree with what you’ve said. Thanks.

What does pushups and pullups have to do with lifting weight to body weight ratio?

If your main concern is measuring lifting weight to body weight ratio, then you might as well do pushups and pullups. Neither one are that meaningful of measure in powerlifting.

Because skinny people have less weight to push around with bodyweight exercises, so they like to brag about them, despite them having very little to do with maximal strength…and last I checked, that’s the main point of powerlifting. Though I am impressed by anyone with a 3x bw deadlift, moreso with heavier folk for obvious reasons.

Some kind of Wilks score standard would be much more appropriate…

Right, thanks guys. Sorry if my wording may me sound ignorant in any way, not my intention.
