330lbs BTN Power Jerk

Nice to see there are some Olympic lifters around here (Knobbers, Koing). So since FI is still down, I thought I would post this here for critiques.

Also a friend of mine posted this vid on musclemecca (not sure why he did, especially there…) and he got a little bet thing with one of the dudes. Here was the response from the “expert”:
“all I was pointing out is this person is obviously an idiot. Picking the worst form possible for presses lettin it literally crash down on to his neck. But his build speaks for it self guess he sits at home wondering why he hasn’t built any front delts yet”

LOL then after he was explained it was a power jerk and not a press…

"pretty sure the clean and jerk hasn’t changed since I competed in it.

BTN are not only stupid but really have very little to do with the snatch or clean and jerk. I can list easily weight lifters and a few coaches from personal experience who will tell you not to do this exercise.
u are fixed on 330 arn’t you! It’s a woman weight as far as o’lifting is concerned. Anybody can do that. Hey don’t take it from me why don’t you post that same vid on a weightlifting forum and let them laugh at you too"

I’m not saying 150kg is a huge weight by any means but it felt easy after a 2 months strength/power phase with only push presses and power clean from hang as O’lifting movement. The rest were deadlifts, box squat (with and without bands), resisted sprints, jumps etc…

I was impressed with the elbow whip and rack on the power cleans, very good.

the BNJ’s were OK but your lockout of your elbows is a bit slow and incomplete. The 150 was also a bit forward by the looks of it but it is a bit hard to tell from the angle.

a girls weight? not in my country! (not yet anyways) yes there are a handfull of female lifters from Russia and China that can do this but they are hardly considered girls anymore by there endocrine profile.

That was a good workout you had there!

I’m no expert, but any time you can throw 300+ lbs over your head, in any fashion, is impressive.

Is your name Fred or Kenny? I’m confused.

Good lifting, man. Never mind the p-nut gallery either. I have never seen a single feat a strenghth on T-Nation someone couldn’t find fault with. We must be in the company of great athletes around here.

He posted it for critiques Mr. Sensitive.

I push pressed 420 for 2 singles last april. I’m workin my way to the big 500!

I agree with you, overhead strength is rare and impressive.

Great lift man. Mad respect.
I do walking lunges as well, what weight are you working with in the video?

How timely. Impressive strength levels. Knitpicking here but since you asked. The heavy db lunges are a great idea but your knees are collapsing inward and you do show a forward lean. Going that heavy on the lunges will make your weakness more apparent and I am sure your form is much better when using submaximal loading.

Thanks for the constructive criticisms. I will concentrate on the lock out next time. Well the PC were light, just 80kg. I do these on my speed day just to maintain some kind of quickness. I’m more in a strength phase now though. I’ve added box squats with and without bands and I feel they help a lot.

420lbs push press is massive! Post it when you can. Good motivation.

Thank you, I use the 110’s. They don’t have heavier dumbbells at this little gym. Will have to use the bar and go outside when I get stronger.

Hey…just watched the video.

Nice snap on the cleans.

You need to strengthen your abs. I can see it in the BNP and FSQT. Serious ab work is a must if you wanna put big weights overhead or have a big FSQT, IMO.

True! Form wasn’t perfect at all. I almost tripped too, but that’s because I couldn’t walk straight, and I’m lucky I didn’t had to walk around people too! lol

I do negglect ab work. I mean I do some, but not nearly enough. I do russian twist and weighted sit-ups only. What do you do for abs?

I used to be an ab nut…and my lifts went way up…then I got lazy with it, but it started to make my FSQTs harder, especially with top end weights.

Sooo…I do heavy weighted sit ups, Situps with a medicine ball throw at the top, ab wheel (standing and kneeling)…do not underestimate the power of the ab wheel when done properly!

I mix the reps, some medium-high (8-10) and some lower (3-5). I honestly think the biggest bang for your buck is an ab wheel, eventually done standing.

I liked dragon flags too, but they are pretty advanced.

There was just an article in milo about ab training with some kind of wheel that you can strap to your feet and do a sort of reverse ab wheel motion…i’ll look for the article.

Yes the abwheel is intense. Thanks for the advices. I’m just lazy with my abs work.

Actually I can do dragon flags, but my arms and shoulders do all the work…

where those 45 lbs plates? or Rubber ones? ie 35 lbs?
