New PR today 265 baby! next week going for same weight, pin press from the chest. Aiming for 300 by May Weekend.
Woot!!!
I’m trying NOT to max out for ten weeks. Because if things keep going the way they are I’ll be doing 300X5X5 by then. My 10lb/wk increases won’t last for ever so I’m praying they’ll hold out for just ten more weeks. (HAHA, I just looked at the calendar, and it’s April Fool’s Day)
Either way, I’m planning on Pushing 300 for x amount of reps by April… Bwuuhahahahahaha!!!
Hey guys. My goal is 300 this year AT LEAST. I really want 3 plates but I will be happy as hell with 300!!!
Current max is 250x5 or 255x3.
I’m going for 255x4 tomorrow.
My thing is to bump up my 5 rep max 5 pounds and try and get that weight 5 times, if I fail then I try until I get it. Well you get the idea. Add 5 pounds everytime I’m able to get a weight for 5.
Example(last week’s workout)
135x10
155x5
185x5
205x5
225x5
235x5 (doing 3 tomorrow to save energy)
255x3
Any suggestions or critiques on my workout/strategy would be awesome.
My squat has really jumped in the past few weeks, my deadlift is progressing well, but FUCK… my bench is pretty stagnant. I hit 275x3 fairly recently (and have never attempted heavier weight raw).
I want three plates so badly. I have been working on my technique the past few bench workouts and I have it down as well as I can get it. Structuring the workout itself is where I will probably make the most positive change. Should I be sticking to series of triples and singles? What do some of you heavy benchers do in terms of sets and poundage increases in a single session?

Nice man. I saw your video. No spot? Damn.
I have pins on my bench which you probably cant see from the angle of the vid, but they’re at a perfect height, with arch, i dont touch them, without arch, i do.
