Goal at the end of the year

invest money in a 45 degree hyper and reverse hyper /or glute ham raise.
raise strength in hams/lower back

run a faster forty yard dash.
jump a higher vertical.

say no to drugs.

Soon!! Training for a bench only meet Feb 21st.

just dropped down to about 240 relatively lean. continue eating well but up the cals to put on more weight on but i guess slowly so i dont get a big ol’ gut again.

i just got a hand me down suit so i dont know what numbers to aim for there, but if i were still just in my briefs i would say

May meet goals: 550sq, 400b, 600dl

2009 goals (guesstimates):
250-260lbs ~12-15%bf
575sq in suit/briefs/sleeves
425b (shirt needs to be adjusted)
625dl in suit/briefs

Currently:
roughly 100kg
90kg power snatch
125kg power clean and jerk

Looking to clean up the diet, fill out to around 105kg. Immediate lifting goals are to get comfortable catching the lifts in the full squat and hit a bodyweight snatch. Hope to get on the platform and compete at the very least by the end of the summer (schedule permitting) and hope to be knocking on the door of a 145 snatch and a 170 clean and jerk by the end of the year. Looks incredibly ambitious right now, but I’m expecting some newbie technical gains.

How frequently do you train Bench when preparing for a bench only meet?

How frequently do you train when prepping for a full meet?

My goals for Summer- Winter 2008 were

-Gain Strength Squat went from 115kg 3rm to 135kgx3x5 and bench went from 67.5kg 1RM to 75kg 1RM both in 9 weeks
-Gain Mental Attitude to keeping to a program (hence V-Diet) V-Diet worked for 4 weeks then I needed to get fit so had to bunk off it, but SS got me in the mood
-Gain Extra Mobility/Ability to Overhead squat 40kg+ Overhead Squat 40kg + Failure - YouTube a bit dangerous

New Goals for 2009

-400lb/180kg Deadlift, will be harder as I am now rowing
-Sub 6:30 2000m, I got 6:44 at the beginning of Easter but fell in and my score stuck
-BW Overhead Squat, has to be done :slight_smile:
-Learn to clean properly

400 squat for 20. (Past best was 375 for 20, but I stopped before I peaked with it to nail a 600lber raw).

If I nail 400 for 20 I’ll see if 500 for 20 is in me.

Second goal:

November last year I got 350 for 17. Been sick with something glandular for about 6-8 weeks and so I’ve started with 265 for 15.

Though my goals are more based towards 1rm, it would be very cool to hit 405 for 20 olympic style.

Sounds good, will you wear that leopard print top when we meet? I’m sure it would add a good 5kg to my squat :wink:

-Clean up Diet.
-Squat 405 (almost there!)
-Bench 315
-Do ten unassisted chin ups. At 5 now

If I could do ten chin ups that would be huge for me because when I started I couldn’t do one.

My Goals for 09:

Get up to 250lbs hopefully in the 15-18% BF range (currently 215 @ about 15%)
Squat 500+
Deadlift 550+
Bench 350+
