2009 Goals and Battleplans

  1. Get laid for the first time?

Ok, no… serious now…

Get over 250 pounds on the squat

Also…
Lose about 20 pounds, increase my vertical, learn the various power lifts, increase my explosive speed, learn to properly spike the ball (volleyball)…

It will be an interesting year I belive.

Squat 4 plates and a quarter each side. (455 lbs.)
*Squatted 350 yesterday.

Deadlift 300 lbs. before August.
Deadlift is terrible, must improve!

Bench 150 X 16

To not eat a french frie which i did not cook myself (Damn you McDonalds!)

Gain weight. (Weigh a minimum of 150 lbs.)

Reach at least a Class 1 A.D.A.U Raw Men’s Powerlifting Classification at the 148 lbs. weight class. (979 lbs.)

How are you squatting 455 and pulling <300?

I am hoping to hit a 450 lb squat, 300+ lb bench and a 550 lb deadlift. I participated in my first meet this past october with a 352 lb squat, 264.5 lb bench and 451 lb deadlift. IM GONNA GET THEM IN 09!

Squatting 350 now and pulling about 275. I did a lot of martial arts training as a kid, which helped strengthen my legs and neglected my lower back, which i am trying to balance out now.

Clean up diet, drop down to 10% BF but get up to about 272.

Total in my big three lifts @ 1150 lbs
(Squat, Power Clean, Bench) right now it is 1015. I would like most of it to be in squat considering it is not that good.

Master my snatch technique and get 100kg+

Get my entire back of my body up to snub.

If you neglected your lower back, you wouldn’t be squatting that much weight below parallel.

I want to continue rehabing my shoulder successfully.

I want to weigh a healthy 220lb’s right on the dot, currently at 210.

What are you squatting now? Raw as well?

If your goal is 630, lets see who can get there faster. I’m @ 573 lbs (260 kg), so I have about 60 lbs to go to hit your goal.

A little competition is a good thing!

(I can’t compete with your other lifts, mine are too sad!)

Goal #1:
Snatch: 85kg (my bw 187lbs) before or on March 21st (my BDay).

Goal #2:
A 205kg Total by the 1st week of April, so I can qualify for National Collegiates (April 17th-19th).

How frequently do you train Bench when preparing for a bench only meet?

How frequently do you train when prepping for a full meet?[/quote]

Bench and squat(raw) once a week all year. preping for a full meet I get into the gear for the squats. Assistance work on the third day.

Hell yeah, I welcome it. I currently lift with TimZ who is listed in this thread also. He and I are at opposite ends of the spectrum in the squat.

My best gym lift is 585lb’s, and best meet was 550lb’s. I don’t know what I can do raw since I lift geared. I stay raw for reps up to 405lb’s, and then don my briefs. My last all raw meet was 18 years ago when I was lifting at the 165lb class, and I did 415lb’s.
I have loaded up 600lb’s a few times and given it a good ride, but I know and video especially knows that it is not low enough. Good luck, stay safe and keep me updated on how things are going.
Joe

09 Plans: First and foremost recover from thumb surgery and get my grip back. After that, hopefully compete at 242, but 100% RAW doesn’t have any scheduled meets in Illinois, maybe hit a different fed. Comp goals: 580 squat; 420 bench; 560 dead. Hopefully done before my 21st.

THREAD UPDATE

ok, i should have put this in the origional, but i didnt think of it then, so fuck it, it goes here now

i think it would be cool if everyone kept posting in this thread (partially because i’ve never had an epic thread before haha) as they start knocking off their goals, be it year end goals, 3 month. whatever you got…even though it doesnt give any more accountability than you can give yourself, i think it could be fun and a nice reminder

besides, watching other people succeed can always help drive you

its also a bit of a throwback to T-Nation, after all the years of being retarded, the good ol’ “stop thinking, start eating” has finnnally sunken in and last year was my best training year yet, and i want to kill it this year…and theres nothing more i like to see than watching people that asked me for help, actually do it, and succeed…so a round for T-Nation, lets fuckin’ giv’r

X2 on the updates, or else the thread would get lost by March OP congrats on the mental accomplishments and realizing the iron is more than just numbers. Well today i made another gain towards my goal, hit the 545 dead. smoke show. Its floating on this site somewhere.
