2009 Goals and Battleplans

Shooting to get my feet wet at

Oct 3, USPF Central Calif Open PL, BP, DL
Location: Modesto, CA
Meet Director: Steve Denison

First half of the year I’m working on being consistent with my lifting schedule and pushing my gym bench to 500. Did 420 in the gym last night. Wanting to see how this will translate in a meet.

I’m currently weighing just above 240 pretty much have the desire to keep my weight where it is now for the time being.

Get my pathetic squat up to double bodyweight, hopefully hit 405 ish (current DB would be at 370-380) and demolish the current APA raw 16-17 181’s record total of 992, set it somewhere around 1100 or higher

Bench 400+ (current 300+)
Deadlift 600+ (current 500+)
Squat 500+ (current 400+)

All drug free, raw (just belt) and in an over 40 years of age (Masters) division of the first meet I will be competing in. It’s actually a “push/ pull” meet, but I continue to train squat as I would also like to do a 3 lift meet.

even with your current numbers you will do great in your first comp. once you hit your goals for this year you will graduate to Badass.

I’ll be supporting you the entire time.

Thanks! I’ve got an awesome coach, mentor and friend that is blazin’ a trail for me… one that when the spring thaw comes, I may have to make the 15 hour drive down to Bristow South Carolina to have a few brews with and throw some iron around…

your an ass hanley…

Don’t hate…

…yet.

Knowing my luck I’ll be all set up to hit them and blow something out!

Just checked the USAPL ranking list, it’d be good for number 2 in the country last year, and 3rd at IPF worlds. If I can get my bodyweight up to a full 110 (or a shade over) I might be good for more.

It’ll be an interesting year what ever happens!

Thats some sweet stuff dude. If you post high totals that rank are you going to try to pursue into nationals and then the IPF? But it owuld have to be 2010 correct beings as your qualifying in 09?
Sadly by 2010 I’ll be a senior… 2009’s my swansong as a junior and the IPF comps just don’t tie in with my scheduel this year :frowning:

I know you’ll manage, brother.

Goals for 2009:

  1. Weigh 200+, hopefully 210 by end of year (currently @ 195)

  2. Increase my powerlifts

    • Squat 485-500
    • Bench 300
    • Deadlift 550+
  3. I want bigger guns!

ah man that hurts, lol. Are you gonna try to post a total in some other comps/ feds just to keep the edge on going into seniors?

I would like to do something like: 180/110/150 plus KG single ply this year. But mostly I would like to get a injure free year where I stick to my diet and work my ass of. My biggest thing will be the IPF Jr.Worlds this year. I would hate to go there and know there is something I could have done better. So I am going all out this year.
I hope to see you there.

To borrow Hanley’s format…

725/475/705 at 210-220 - single ply, drug free (IPF), Junior

I won’t be totaling that much by Nationals in April but as I fill out the 100kg’s I would like to do around that, hopefully by late summer early fall.

drop to 245 or lower
bench 315
squat 400+
deadlift 500+

clean and jerk 260-305
snatch 200

no more back or nerve injuries!
eat better and get a new slate started for going into college.

I feel like I’ve written this out on this site already, but here are my goals for '09:

-Snag the 259 WABDL junior DL record (currently at 688)

-Get an APF(that’s massively multiply even though I only use single ply gear) elite total at 242. Lifts would roughly have to be 750/500/690.

I’m currently sitting on 700/457/633 for a frame of reference.

Does anyone plan on doing grip strength training? This might be something good to start doing this year.

This has always interested me, but I just never found a proper way to train for it.

If anyone plans on working on this or is currently doing it, I bet a few people including myself would be interested.

goals for 09
-more flexibility/mobility
-left head kick ko, got the right down already.

  • 405 bench
  • 550 squat with belt only.
  • get my conventiaonl technique better for deadlift
do this all before turning 20, (bday in october)
and lastly at BW of no more than 210
bench at 202 (for double BW) and squat 550 at 210.
    OH AND higher vertical jump.

I’ve been beginning to work a Rolling Thunder, with 2 inch diameter pvc grip and pinch grip attachments into my training. Grip has never been a problem with me but I figure it can’t hurt.

  1. To qualify for single ply nats in no gear.
  2. To get some gear.

I just bought myself one of these:
http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?m=PD&cid=114&pid=1099

but I honestly have no idea how to incorporate into my training. Right now I just have it laying around and I’ll pick it while watching TV and bang out a bunch of reps. Very scientific, I know…

Show off!!

That would be stupidly sick.

I’ve seen that before. I actully remember when it first showed up on EFS.

I might just start a thread on the topic since I haven’t seen one in quite a while.

Now get back on topic people! lol

You big guys aren’t playing fair! What about us small 198ers? (Or really fat 181ers?) lol

Enough talking, start getting there!
