19 Inch Arms!

My arms are 26… years old :frowning:

Awesome stuff though everyone who posted pics! Very inspirational!

Knock-knock!

I can only stay in this thread temporarily because I hit 19" pumped tonight— Alas, when I wake up tomorrow AM, they’ll probably only be 18.75" or so again.

It’s like freakin’ Cinderella at the old fart’s ball-- pumped arms-- DING! Doh! Gotta get home before they atrophy…

But I’m gonna keep knockin’ on the door until ya let me in permanently!!!

This is where I started my little ‘arm size’ experiment 22 months ago at 14.25" …

Yeah, yeah, not the leanest, but this is long term project – we’re still not quite there yet. Maybe 10 more years.

Wow great progress you r lookin thick as hell

SteelyD,

Very Impressive! What was your body weight (roughly) at each shot? You had lost quite a bit of weight at one time, IIRC? Was the first pic post-diet?

Chidey- I started out at a total fat 240-something after not doing much of anything for about 8 years. Dieted down 50 lbs in 3 months with low cal, lots of cardio, some weights (wouldn’t do it like that again). Took off another 20 with weights added, so down to 170-ish. I might have been (skinny-fat) 180-190 in the beginning pic.

Started eating like a man again and lifting heavy because my arms looked like toothpicks in that picture. Back up into 250 something (obviously not a lean 250). No abs, but I’m not at that checkpoint yet. I have some other numbers (size, lifting, etc) I want to hit in the next couple/few years first.

Nice job Steely! You might not be at 19 not-pumped yet, but that’s still a fucking big arm. How tall are you?

I might be 5-9" on a good day when I first wake up.

S_D your fucking looking huge bro. wat are those stats and lifts looking like??

Hey, I know exactly where you are coming from. I had dieted down from a lardass ~270 to 195 at 6’ 2" about 2 years ago, and was pretty much in the same shape. It’s tough to overcome the mentality that the weight you are putting on is not fat (or at least mostly not). You’ve got to put on the pounds in order to grow. It’s not going to magically appear

I’ve been loosely following your thread in the over 35 forum, and was pretty excited to see that you included those BK double cheeseburgers in your diet (I think that’s where I saw it, anyways). 50 grams of protein for a buck, and total affirmation that I’m not the only one eating them, lol!

Anyways, you’re looking big and solid, dude. The abs don’t even have to register on the radar now, if ever. That’s between you and yourself.

pro-a-gression: Thanks man. The only ‘stats’ that matter are: 5-6 days a week at the gym, 4-4500 cals per day, and 350-400g protein per day

Chidey: Thanks for following. I’ve posted almost every workout for almost 2 years. BK only when necessary to get the cals in (and I don’t eat the buns)!!

I know I’m probably morbidly obese for these forums, but, it’s a means to an end. For sure I’m trying to minimize fat gain, but I refuse to waste time and err on not eating enough. It’s tough enough working against declining hormones, I don’t want to drop the ball with the easy stuff (ie. eating enough to gain).

yeah but to get there your stats have to be somewhat high. besides i like knowing what others ahead of me are pushing so it gives me something to strive for. like PX said that when he hit 18" he was curling the 85lbs DBs for reps soooo… it pushes me to get stronger. Atm… im only doing the 55s so… another 30 to go. i know it depends on ur height, stats, bodytype… but we all like something to push forward to. ya know?

I understand the comparison that you’re trying to make, but I don’t think you can make a direct correlation to ‘pounds curled’ to ‘arm size’. Maybe a weak one, but not directly.

I’m certainly not going to answer for PX, but at this point in his “lifting age”, he may have trained much differently to get there than I have. He may have started out doing many curls from day one, where I kind of ignored them (part of my problem). My body likely responds differently than someone else’s. Admittedly, I’m not a super-lean guy, but when I’m working out, I get some vascularity going in my shoulders and arms and legs (I also tend to keep a lot of water), so that makes a difference. I know guys who are smaller that can curl more than I do, but my squat is 200 lbs more than theirs-- my legs, back, and shoulder complex are bigger, but they can curl more. I don’t know what my “1 RM db curl is”. My working sets are in the 60’s, but I can curl up in the 70’s, but that’s not where I train them.

For me, the revelation was that “it’s about the triceps” more than the biceps. Don’t get me wrong-- I dedicate a day to biceps (ie. an arm day), but my arms started to pop a little with the addition of some heavier/more-intense triceps work.

I’m repping CGBP in the 300’s for whatever that’s worth. That’s not a lot. The guys in Over 35 are kicking my ass with some big numbers. I’m trying to catch them.

Sorry, I don’t want to hijack this thread, because it’s not about me – just wanted to post my little piece of 19". I know, “yawn”.

Nice! That’s interesting that your arm pumped is only .25" bigger than cold. I haven’t measured my arm pumped in a while, but I remember when I was 17.7" or so, pumped (bis/tris) I would be around 18.75". Are just your biceps pumped or tri’s too?

Thanks, beef!

You know, I just assumed my arm was pumped. I measured my arm some hours after my workout (mostly a triceps-focused arm workout). I had my camera bag there filming a form-check lift, so I took some ‘progress pics’ and it occurred to me later that I should take a measurement with the pics.

I don’t know that I’ve ever gotten a really BIG pump and I’ve never really done a direct before/after. I just happened to know what my arms measured at around the new year.

It is generally believed that the more a target muscle grows from a pump the greater growth potential it has. I have had mine go up nearly an inch in the past right after training them…and aside from my shoulders and traps, they are likely my best growing body part.

Well, that’s good news for my shoulders, then. They pop after just a few sets on shoulder day …

**Waits for all the newbies to take “the more a target muscle grows from a pump the greater growth potential it has” and turn it into -

PX SAID “the difference between a ‘cold’ measurement and a ‘pumped’ measurement equals the amount needed until i reach my genetic potential, anybody that grows bigger than this, IS ON DA STEROIDZ”

intersting point X.

Bump.

Just wondering if anyone new has some taped arms to add to this progress thread…?
