Not sure if this has been posted before, but hers an 18 year old with a 430 clean and jerk.
And a 705 pound squat:
All done at 18 yrs old.

He’s a beast. He competed at the last meet that I competed in. I can’t remember how much he lifted in each lift, but it was impressive to watch.
This is pretty amazing stuff…who is this guy? I saw comments saying “Pat” and that maybe he’s Norwegian. If he is an American he could be the super we’ve been hoping for as he could add 30-50 kgs in a few years. Unless of course he’s seriously juiced up.
Thanks BlackLabel, this made my 300 C@J at 18 seem pretty insignificant. Doc
Tyson Chicken tends to do that to people.
wow that was impressive

He is an American. He trains at Average Broz Gym in the Las Vegas area.
I think he needs a stroger bar to squat any more. It looked like it was about to break in half.
Good stuff.
He definitely has potential. His technique can use some work, but lifters in his weight class often don’t peak until their early thirties, so he has plenty of time to develop. If he has good coaching and keeps at it, he could do a lot for US weightlifting.
Sweet this guy could be big news soon. Really impressive.
he mad all those lifts look pretty easy.

I’d bet my ass that he probably wouldn’t have been able accomplish such feats if he decided to just train like a powerlifter.
What an animal.

Because powerlifters obviousley focus on C&J.
There really isnt anything I can say, that hasnt already been said her on T-Nation about you.
Well he’s (Pat Mendes) 19years old now and here’s footage of his most recent snatch (training):

And front squat:

The advantage he has over Shane Hammon is that he’s got a 6-7 year earlier start in Olympic lifting (Shane got into Olympic lifting at age 24). There’s no doubt in my mind that Pat Mendes has greater talent and potential as a super heavyweight than Casey Burgener who is now retired I believe.
Phenominal lifter esecially given his age and technique. If that guy can take the punishment of all that hip smashing on the bar then he will be a force for the US. And if anything you all down south can really use a better OL team for 2012 as i think you guys only had 2 lifters in bejing. I think we might have had more and that doesnt make statistical sense.

Gotta love the flex. I bet that bar would go into a upside down “U” before it broke.

Savage!
His front squat looks a lot better tempo wise then his back squat where he lowers down and then just drops in to it. His front squat is a lot more controlled.
BEASTY Snatch! Really TEARS it off the floor, very sweet!
