14, Started Lifting for Football

Note to self:
Ignore all people with “baller” anywhere in their log in name for obvious reasons.

The funniest thing is, “baller” used to not have shit to do with playing basketball. I hate when “ebonics” cross over.

Wow. that was very mature. Sorry if I picked a username that wasn’t approved by you first. But I can see what your saying, my username voids all of my posts.

No, your insistence on trying to “catch” some 14 year old in the act of exaggeration is what is doing that. I mean, what next, pull the teddy bear from a kindergarten student? I could care less about the specific weight this kid claims he can lift. You only care because it close to what you can lift and that has you on the defensive. I am sure it brings up all kinds of feelings along with making you look in the mirror and wonder if you are truly making much progress yourself.

Instead of helping this kid be even better than he is (which is apparently damn close to where some of you are after years of training), many have resorted to trying to disprove what he claims he can lift. He’s a kid. Who the fuck cares?

You know what I would like to see? This kid logging back in 1-3 years from now blowing away the progress of most who are wasting their time on issues like that.

I would hope we are all making progress far beyond “average”, but it seems like many are just content with trying to make everyone who is seeing progress feel less than them in some way.

Either help the kid be his best or quit clogging up this thread. If his genetic base is better than your own, get over it.

GeneticSmoke, there’s only one person you need to listen to, Professor X. Let him (and him alone!) guide you in your efforts and you’ll be big and strong. Great job so far.

With all respect to Proffesor X that is horrible advice.

You should never get all your information from ANY one person.

I think a 14 year old would benefit from the mentorship of Professor X, especially if building muscle is the main focus. He doesn’t seem to get lost in the “fads du jour” like many on this site.
I understand your point, but by neglecting all advice that isn’t from one person you are missing out on a ton of good information. Which is still probaly better than changing your routine everytime Chad Waterbury comes out with a new article, which I think was your point.

alright 100% understood. see ya on other threads proffesor X!

Oh boy. Wish I had a start like you, GeneticSmoke. Looks like the most important things have been said: eat a lot, lift hard, don’t get hurt. Looks like you’ll be a monster in a few years! Good luck!

man dude whats your 40 time and vertical jump like…i play football myself

WOW i knew i was going to get flamed for the time i was gone but guys my mother board in my old comp died so i had to get a new one and now im back to prove all of you who think im lying wrong which i will enjoy very much :stuck_out_tongue: and if that question bout the 40 is for me i run a 4.67 in the 40 and yes the video im trying to upload it right now

BTW im not 14 anymore im 15 now

No one on here was really flaming you it was more of arguments with eachother.Being flamed is the last thing you have to worry about, pretty much everyone who has read this forum likes you and is rooting for you.And for all the people saying that you might not do as much as you say, don’t take it personally.

If you heard about a kid younger than you lifting as much as you wouldn’t you be skeptical? In reality most of the people hope that you really are capable of the 410 dead, etc. At the rate your developing you will probably have doubters until your a grown ass man. That’s just how it works.

Oh and happy birthday by the way.

Thanks and i will get that video up as soon as i can im trying to install my Phone tools software so i can get it off my phone but the things being kinda stubborn and dont want to install but i will do my best to get it up and if i cant get it off my phone i wont be able to get it for another 2 weeks when my parents get home since they are both truck drivers DONT WORRY I WILL GET A VIDEO

Don’t stress about it too much.If it’s not working go enjoy your time doing something else.I know Prof. X says I was “hassling” you but seriously if the phone is giving you trouble it’s no big deal.I know you started this thread for lifting advice but as a young football player don’t forget about practicing technique.

If there are football camps around your area it is definitely worth your while checking it out and learning the technical side of the game because being bigger stronger and faster will only take you so far.One day the playing field will even out and you’ll have to know technique to be a good football player.

I will admit that there would be, on my part anyways, some envy at how blessed this kid is if his numbers are true seeing as how I’m 5’7", 160 lbs., 6 years older, and only deadlift 10 lbs. more.

Did you do a set of pushups when you were 13 and then wait 6 years and 9 months to start lifting again?
I assume you are trying to be a dickhead. I was actually a very small 112 lbs. when I was 13. And like I said if you read my post, dickhead, over the past 7 years I have had some serious injuries that have kept me in the hospital and even on life support (lacerated liver, lost 75% of my blood, failed pancreas, kidneys, etc…) that have, how do you say, caused me to lose some weight here and there. Good post though newb.

What have you been doing for chest work? Have you gained weight?

REad this post about HS football training.

http://www.T-Nation.com/readTopic.do?id=1222456

Your lean probably fast but so what? Dont listen to these fat hogs that think every football player has to get fat. Look at the best recievers in the league they are LEAN? and they are fast?

focus on eating solid foot, multiple meals, and let your strength increase.

dont worry about bench.

worry about POWERCLEAN, deadlift, and squats, period, period, period.

what is your powerclean off the floor?

how about deadlift?

145 Power cling and dead lift is 410 max ill get a vid of that and right now i do Dumbell press and im having a very hard time gaining weight im only at 146

“Power cling” makes me laugh every time.
