Well I am 27 years of age and have never competed. I am planning on it. I have never used any drugs or lifting equipment aside from a belt and wrist wraps. I weigh 202 lbs. My bench is around 450 to 475 depending on the day . I have only tried 405 x 3 on the deadlift and I just started squatting ( I hate them but I need to do them). I am acutually going to max out next week in a different gym and try 495 on the bench. I figure I would barely make the 1000 club if my bench was not so strong.
I’m very impressed! I’m 31 and I don’t have any idea how I could be a part of team 1000 someday, but I’ll try real hard! As soon as I reach it, I start my one-man-moving company.
When I was back in high school(2 years ago) I was at my strongest and I benched 350, deadlifted 525, and squated 550. I’m gonna try to get back to that by May after a long layoff.
My name is Baskin Brown, I am 17years old and a senior in high school. I am 5’9" and 178lbs. I bench press 315lbs and leg press 1100lbs or so. I use no substances except whey protein and ocasionally creatine. My arms measure 16 1/2 inches. I suggest that all you guys who are so much stronger get off the juice and be a real man. In the end I will be stronger that you anyways and I can kick your ass now and I will be able to then as well. So be a man and dont flaunt your stats if your own the juice!
i am a beginner, lifted lightly for about 3-4 weeks total so far, i think i can lift pretty good, my opinion, i am fairly happy and i only been lifting for that amount of time, i can deadlift 195 lbs., curl 72 lbs, squat i don’t know, need a rack first, military press 90 lbs, and bench i also need a rack to find out, i hope i can reach the 1000 club someday, i will work at it, and learn from you guys to get better.
Yo, Baskin Brownstar, what about your squat or deadlift? Any pussy can do partial leg presses with that much weight, which I’m sure is probobly what you do. I would also bet you couldn’t full squat 135lbs. A little bit of advice, get a few years of training experience under your belt before you open your pie hole and the next time you measure your arms, take your sweatshirt off first.
Yo Blaskin. Leg presses are for “real women”, not real men. I would be willing to bet you cheat like a bastard on your bench press too.
Good one Sig! Ha Ha! As far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t matter if you’re on the juice or not. That’s someone’s personal choice, and we all know it works! So it doesn’t make their accomplishment any less worthy.
Think about all the pros out there who are juicing. C’mon, most of the athletes who compete in the Olympics use the juice. It brings them to a higher level. And we all know that many professional athletes use the gear to give them an edge.
Sure, it’s more impressive if you can lift superhuman weights without the gear, but a lift is a lift no matter how much juice you use! Just as long as it’s a good lift!
when you guys refer to squats are you asking about a max in your parallel squat or these so called full squats… the reason i ask is i never really trained my legs (other than plyometrics and pussy 1/4 squats) and am doing box squating and good mornings and all of that good Westside stuff… Anyway all of the pics of Louie and Tate show them going to only paralel. Furthermore using the wide stance that they advocate it is imposible to go ass to the grass… I was just wondering what kind of squat you guys are talking about when you say your squat. Ok, my bench has stalled at 195 lbs for a while now and i havent maxed out on squats or deadlifts yet because i dont think my form is optimal.
The last meet I entered was may 1988. At 148 I did a 430 squat, 242 bench, and a 462 deadlift at a Chicago Adfpa meet. Now I’m 37 And probably could go a lot higher, but I just don’t max on the lifts anymore. I follow a westside training protocol for strength/ fitness. I just did a 250 high incline press, 335 x 3 good morning, and a 285 lb close grip. I love lifting, but lost the desire to compete after all the different “crybaby” federations sprang up. I liked the days of the uspf when there was one federation. It never bothered me if someone used drugs, I just wanted to improve my lifts. At the least the trophies back then ment something if you one. All the meets were done clean, including a teenage state title at 132. Again don’t worry if a guy takes drugs. Just eat right, rest right, train right and hit the squat rack.
Two years ago lifting in a THSPA (Texas High School Powerlifting
Association) meet, my best total was 1160: 225 bench, 485 squat, 450
deadlift. I weighed 158 at the time.
I was benching 300 and improving but I injured my shoulder
and eventually needed two surgeries. By the way, Chris Shugart was
helping me train at the time I achieved this total.
These aren’t my stats but I used to work with a guy who was a former natl. powerlifting champion named Bill Colitzas. At his peak (in high school) he squatted and deadlifted over 500 and benched 315 or so at an approx. bw of 160. He was a genetic freak, he used to train 7 hrs. a day w/o any anabolics, and this guy ate virtually nothing but steak. He’s from Doniphan, which is a super small town here in Nebraska but somehow a guy by the name of Dave Sochor ended up there who was also a former powerlifting champ. He got a teaching job and started a powerlifting program, and Doniphan High School has turned out a few champs. One is a girl named Melanie Bodlak who is just an itty bitty thing but could put most guys to shame on the big three. She is one of the top lifters in the world in her weight class.
Baskin Brown,
Name your time and place bitch! I am sure I am not the only one willing to show up and rip you an new ass hole. You need to shut your little scrawny ass b/f you open it to a group of people like T-men! I am natural now, and while I may not be as strong, I look a hella a lot better than I did, and a hella a lot of bigger.
The Power Lifter’s Squat puts you at a huge mechanical advantage so that you can use MUCH more weight than full squats (going all they way down). I have no problem with this method for competition since everyone has the same advantage and there are rules. If you can full squat over 500 pounds, then send a video tape off to coach Poliquin as I’m sure he would be very interested in seeing it! There’s only a handful of guys in the world that can full squat 500 pounds!
If your not competing or don’t plan on competing then I don’t see any reason to power squat other than to boost your ego in the gym by slapping all the plates on!
I also think it is ridiculous how many football players use the power squat. Your an athlete! Numerous studies have proved that full squats do in fact increase knee stability and carry over extremely well to athletic performance.
Of course, you can’t tell a high school athlete this… what would the other guys think of him!
I dont lift very heavy right now,but about 10 yrs.ago I was squatting 405 xs2 dlft405xs3,bnch225xs1.at 145 lbs.I always thought my bench was weak not realizing I had a subscap injury that was preventing proper movement of my shoulder.Looking back I guess thats pretty strong for a pencilneck.Im 30 pounds heavier now but I couldnt push 405 in a wheelbarrow.
In meets: squat 451.75, bench 303, deadlift 451.75. (in pounds) bodyweight was @225. Good job on cracking 1000, man.
i can squat 500, bench 315, dead lift around 550. im 16 years old and weigh 215 lbs with about 12 % bodyfat… but when i do squats i do them till my legs are parallel to the ground… is that how yoy are supposed to do em?
OK this is getting ridiculous, the gym i go to, i have not seen a single person squat, benchpress or deadlift anything over 400. Here we have 16 year old kids doing what grown adults can’t do.
I dont get it, there is a guy that trains at the gym i go to, and this guy is real muscular and big. I would say his biceps would be 17-18 inch and the most i have seen him bench is about 250 and incline 200 with the help of a spotter. The guy dosen’t look clean, he’s got a great body though and as i said he is big.
So what is the deal? Baskin Brown, the leg press at our gym only goes upto 400 pounds i suppose you have a home made leg press machine?
16 year old squatting 500 and a 17 year old leg pressing 1100 pounds??? I don’t think so, i have to see it to believe it.
I dont think there is a person in the world that could do a full squat with 400-500 pounds, i dont know maybe i’m new to weightlifting but as i said before i am pretty strong but i can never ever see myself benching 400 or squatting 500.
You had to figure that the BS would start flying when the original post went up. I go to a gym that has a high number of 17-19 year olds and I spotted one last week that weighed around 205-215. Dude got 275 for eight clean reps on the bench. I would guess he could throw up about 345-350. His back was so broken out, he probably has a complete pharmacy coursing through his veins. As far as the high totals posts, my guess is most with the higher squat totals are talking about PL squats, not ass to the floor squats. You also do not know the form of many of these guys. In my book, a guy that benches 315 with a bounce is really a 285 bencher.
Slaine and other doubters, I agree with you that a lot of this is probably people trying to sound a little bigger than they are. I do think a lot of these guy, myself included, can do what they say. The guys saying “last comp i squatted over 500” probably did. Full squats? No way, powerlifting squats. I did 330 on my squat but full squat 245 is probably tops, maybe even 225. I don’t know but since I powerlift I don’t bother with full squats too much. Besided the only thing that really matters is that you know what you can do and you should be proud of yourself. The original poster was proud of the fact he got over 1000. I was pumped too 2 weeks ago when I first did it at a comp. So everyone lets give credit to ourselves and if others want to bullshit thats fine. By the way I’m only 19 and weight 165. So it’s not impossible for young kids to be doing this stuff clean cause I have. I’ve been lifting since I was 15 and build a solid base. If you don’t believe me check out powerlifting.com and look at the records for those guys. That is probably juicing, not guys like me. 19 year old 165 pounders are doing over 600 on the deadlifts and squats. Anyways congrats to anyone out there that reaches there goals!
