My ART/chiro recently recommended this stuff to me. It’s an anti-inflammatory agent. My ART guy is always on the cutting edge, and recommends stuff like Traumeel. So he knows his shit.
It was only mentioned on T-Nation once:

“There are good herbs out there, one of which is the olive oil based extract known as Zyflamend. ‘The Z’ (as it’s known among prostate cancer groupies), was shown to suppress prostate cancer cell growth and even induce death of existing cells via apoptosis.”
I am using it for sore joints; though it seems to have other uses.
How is it working for you, or too early to tell?
I’m always interested, but not looking forward to using things that can help sore joints. I’ve had quite a few serious injuries, but no long term affects, yet.

Too early to tell. My guy’s recs are always on the money, though, which is why I put it out there.
I’ve only been using it for 4 days (2 caps @ 3 times daily). I know my body well enough to know it’s making a difference. I’m healing much quicker than usual.
So the anti-inflammation “cure” seems to be this: 3 tablespoons fish oil, Traumeel (3-4 times daily), and Zyflamend (3 times daily).
You heard it here, first.
So is this stuff propietary or are there competing brands of the same stuff? It’s got that goofy medecine sounding name which bugs me for some reason.
It sounds good however. Where do you buy it at?
I picked some of the zyflamend up today. I had no idea it is a New Chapter product. NC produces what are probably the best supps on the market. I can also reccomend their “Diet & Energy” blend.
Thanks for the heads up CL.

I just picked up a bottle of Zyflamend today as well. It will be the only other supplement I take besides fish oil.
I have a couple friends who love this product and believe that New Chapters produces at an elite level of quality.
I think lifting hard 6 days a week creates overwhelming inflammation in the body, so it will be interesting to see how this helps.
Any reviews from others users?
I’ve heard a lot about this product. My doctor (also spot on with supps) recommended it long ago, but I have never looked into it.
I’d like to know the difference–at least, in theory–between this product and taking something like Wobenzyme N on an empty stomach. I know Zyflamend has stuff other than enzymes in it, so I’d be more inclined to try it between meals.
Maybe I’ll suck it up and get it.
Thought I’d drop some knowledge in here for passer-byers.
Zyflamend is a formulation containing ten different herbs (1). It is promoted as having anti-inflammatory and antiaging properties. Supporters claim the beneficial effects of Zyflamend are due to the constituents, many of which reduce inflammation by decreasing cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) activity. In vitro studies showed that Zyflamend inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, induces apoptosis (4), and inhibits proliferation (8) of human prostate cancer cells.
Results from a small phase I trial of Zyflamend indicate a reduction in prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels in men with prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN) (7). More studies are warranted.
Purported uses
Antiaging
Cancer treatment
Inflammation
Constituents
Ocimum sanctum (Holy basil) leaf
Curcuma longa (Turmeric) rhizome
Zingiber officinale (Ginger) rhizome
Camellia sinensis (Green tea) leaf
Rosemarinus officinalis (Rosemary) leaf and essential oil
Polygonum cuspidatum (Hu Zhang) root
Coptis chinensis (Chinese goldthread) root
Berberis vulgaris (Barberry) root
Origanum heracleoticum (Oregano) leaf
Scutellaria baicalensis (Scullcap) root
Mechanism of Action
Holy basil, turmeric, ginger, green tea, rosemary, hu zhang, Chinese gold thread and Scutellaria inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 activity and thereby reduce inflammation. In vitro, Zyflamend reduced the proliferation of prostate cancer cells by inhibiting COX-2 activity and by inducing apoptosis (2). It also down-regulated NF-kappa B activiation (6) and inhibited leukotriene B4 formation in an animal carcinogenesis model
My only issue with such blends is that, typically, there just isn’t enough of each active ingredient to really yield any benefits. I’m not knocking this particular supp, just am weary of blends in general.
I will try it with 10g fish oil and Traumeel (thanks West).

Definitely update us on how it goes for you, I’ll do the same when I start taking it in a week or two.
